Tutu Tuesday in Prairie Lakes, Manitoba, Canada! #tututuesday

Hey dance lovers! It’s your girl, Clara, back with another fashion-forward blog post. This time, I’m taking you on a whirlwind tour of tutu trends straight from the heart of Canada – Prairie Lakes, Manitoba, to be precise.

I mean, come on, who doesn’t love a good tutu? Those twirling layers of tulle, the romantic feel, and the sheer joy of movement – it’s a ballerina’s best friend! But did you know that tutus come in a dizzying array of styles? Let’s dive into the wonderful world of tutus!

Tutu Styles: A Dance through History

So, you know those classic, billowing, fluffy tutus that you always see in ballets like Swan Lake? Those are known as *Romantic tutus* - all about soft lines and lots of layers. Perfect for showcasing those beautiful arabesques and pirouettes. Then there are the *Classical tutus*. They're those structured, pencil-shaped numbers – a little less frilly and more focused on highlighting the line and form of the dancer. Think ballerinas in Giselle. But what really took me by surprise this week is the trend of *modern tutus*. These are all about contemporary choreography and breaking away from those traditional silhouettes – more movement and freedom, and just a tad edgy, which is amazing!

Tutu Trends at Prairie Lakes - From Ballet to Streetwear

As you guys know, tutu Tuesday is my favourite day of the week! So, this week, I decided to take my #tututuesday obsession to the streets of Prairie Lakes. My goal? To explore how local shops and fashionistas are embracing this iconic piece of ballet wear. Let’s just say, it was eye-opening!

First stop – Prairie Lakes’ vintage boutique, *Second Wind*. They had some *totally rad* tutus from the 80s and 90s that are begging to be paired with chunky sneakers and denim jackets – that perfect blend of edgy and whimsical! The manager, Chantal, said that they've been selling a *ton* of tutus recently. She also pointed out a *major* resurgence of vintage tutus used for fashion shoots and even a local play - which just goes to show how tutus are becoming more inclusive and accessible to people outside of the traditional ballet world.

But what really floored me were the incredible local artists who are incorporating tutus in their work. Meet *Emma* – she's a young fashion designer who creates these super unique tutus – hand-dyed, custom-fitted and with details like sequins, feathers and chains. Her latest line called "Urban Bloom" is inspired by the textures and colours of the prairies, and her pieces look as beautiful as a work of art.

Prairie Lakes Ballerinas: The Inspiration Behind #tututuesday

But there's a whole other layer to #tututuesday in Prairie Lakes – and that's the vibrant dance community! Did you know there's an incredible ballet school called *Dance Academy*? Led by *Madame Lavigne*, it's a real hub for young ballerinas, training them to dance, express themselves, and be creative, just like Emma is. She gave me the inside scoop on all things tutu – apparently, the kids have been rocking those Romantic tutus for performances and even showing off some of their unique dance moves on social media!

Speaking of social media, let’s not forget about #tututuesday on Instagram! Prairie Lakes has *major* Tutu Tuesday spirit, with so many locals sporting their favourite twirling threads and showcasing their dance moves! I saw some fantastic ballerina-themed coffee shops in downtown Prairie Lakes with "Tutu Tuesday Specials", with lots of fun photos on social media!

So yeah, #tututuesday is *definitely* a thing in Prairie Lakes! It’s more than just a hashtag – it’s a community-driven movement about celebrating style, art and dance, all wrapped up in one beautiful package.
