Tutu Tuesday in Oxford, Nova Scotia: A Tutu-ful Day #tututuesday

Hey everyone! It's your favourite ballet blogger, Chloe here, and today I'm bringing you a special #tututuesday from the beautiful little town of Oxford, Nova Scotia. This charming town, known for its historic architecture and friendly locals, provided the perfect backdrop for my latest Tutu Tuesday adventures.

Now, I know what you're thinking: Oxford, Nova Scotia? What's the ballet scene like out there? Well, let me tell you, Canada is full of talented dancers, and the ballet scene in Nova Scotia is definitely flourishing! The dance schools here are top-notch, with dedicated instructors and enthusiastic students.

Today, I decided to take my Tutu Tuesday celebrations to the streets of Oxford, Nova Scotia. It's the kind of town where people know your name and you feel like you're walking back in time, so I thought it would be the perfect spot to wear a tutu and just soak in the charming atmosphere. And honestly? It was amazing!

My Tutu choice for the day was a beautiful vintage-inspired Romantic tutu, featuring multiple layers of delicate tulle with a shimmering silver lining. It’s classic, timeless, and absolutely dreamy, the perfect blend of elegance and whimsical fun. I'm not sure how else to explain it: A Tutu like this just screams, "Look at me, I'm a ballerina, and I'm proud of it."!

As I twirled through the streets, people stopped me to chat, share stories, and give compliments. Everyone seemed genuinely excited to see someone embrace their inner ballerina, and I loved the feeling of bringing joy and smiles to their faces. You could really tell this small community is connected through a love for traditions and friendly banter. We’re a very polite nation here in Canada. We try our best to say thank you and hello and be polite.

  • I stopped for a delicious cup of coffee at a cute café on the main street. It’s a great place to sit and people watch and relax, and maybe practice some turns! I also made a stop at the town’s little library to browse some books and check out a historical novel.
  • Another fantastic thing I learned was there’s a new bakery in town specializing in artisanal cakes. They were happy to pose for pictures in my tutu, of course, and gave me a free cake pop to celebrate my unique wardrobe choices!
  • To keep it authentic, I headed out of town to visit the local nature preserve, Oxford Forest. Let me tell you, with a little breeze and the light catching the sparkles in my skirt, it made me feel like a real woodland princess. If you find yourself in Oxford, I would highly recommend the forest!

So, what can I say? My #tututuesday in Oxford, Nova Scotia was a smashing success. I felt more than happy. I felt bold, creative, and free, reminding myself why I chose to take my passion for ballet to new and exciting places, like small towns across Canada, even if they’re just 1 hour away from Halifax, Nova Scotia’s capitol city.

The great thing about ballet in Canada is its diversity. Our big cities are known for their world-renowned professional companies, but dance is alive in small towns too. Just remember this: Every time you put on a tutu, you’re celebrating dance, embracing your passion, and adding a sprinkle of magic to your day!

That’s it from your Canadian ballerina blogger. Don’t forget, #tututuesday can be wherever you want it to be! Now, go find your inner ballerina and take some beautiful pictures to post! I would love to see how you do #tututuesday!
