Tutu Tuesday in Great Yarmouth: A Day of Dance, Delight and Delicious Fish and Chips

Well, darlings, it’s finally happened. After months of planning, Tutu Tuesday has arrived in the charming seaside town of Great Yarmouth!

Now, for those who don't know, Tutu Tuesday is a glorious occasion that I dreamt up to encourage all of us, dancers and non-dancers alike, to embrace the twirling magic of a tutu. Forget about Tuesday being "hump day" - it’s time for "Tutu Tuesday."

My original idea was simply to post a photo of myself in a tutu, to encourage others to do the same. But seeing my social media exploding with Tutu-related content (from fluffy and tulle to more modern styles) – let's face it, darlings, the internet loves a good trend – I knew I had to make this a day to celebrate.

So, here in Great Yarmouth, we're having the ultimate Tutu-ific day, with a ballet class by the sea, a "best-dressed" tutu competition, and, of course, plenty of fish and chips (you can't have a seaside day in Great Yarmouth without them, lovelies!).

The day began with a sunrise ballet session, the sand our stage, the gentle waves our music. Imagine it – our perfectly placed pirouettes as the golden rays hit the beach. Oh, the photos are divine! #TutuTuesday Great Yarmouth - you've got to love a little ballet on the beach, don't you?

And let’s be honest, it’s all about the tutu! From romantic and whimsical designs to modern and sleek styles. I saw everything today - a tutu to suit every taste. Some women went for classic styles: soft pinks and billowing tulles with all the flourishes and frills of a traditional ballerina's tutu.

Others opted for something edgier - bold colours, asymmetric designs, even a tutu in black leather! It was such a mix of fashion, elegance, and fun, truly demonstrating how the humble tutu can be as versatile as a woman's wardrobe. The best bit, you don’t need to be a ballerina, a dance enthusiast or even someone who's worn a tutu before – just rock it and embrace the inner tutu queen that we all have within!

Now, for the best-dressed competition, that's a story in itself! Honestly, there was so much amazing flair and personality! The judges had their work cut out for them. We had so many fabulous looks. Some were so elegant, I was transported to the Parisian Ballet while others brought to mind modern performance artists with their sassy and confident expressions.

My favourite look, though, was a little girl in a bright red tutu with matching pigtails. She just radiated joy, and it reminded me of what Tutu Tuesday is all about: celebrating the joy of movement, expression, and creativity - a simple celebration that brings joy and a shared love for the tutus.

It wouldn’t be a true day of joy and indulgence without fish and chips, so a fish and chips date by the pier became part of the agenda for many of the Tutu Tuesday attendees. Imagine the setting: a cool sea breeze, salty air, and everyone laughing while tucking into their dinner.

What a fantastic day! From the stunning sunrise ballet session on the sand to the lively, vibrant tutu competition and ending with a lovely fish and chip treat on the pier. It's the most incredible #tututuesday I could imagine, a reminder of how important it is to express ourselves and find the joy in everyday things. It's proof positive that even in the most unexpected places, you can find the magic in the most unlikely forms, especially if it involves a little twirling in a tutu.

Until next time, dear friends! May you all find your inner ballerina and wear a tutu, confidently and with a sprinkle of fairy dust – after all, every day is a good day to feel a little magic. And if not, then Tuesday, is the perfect day for it.

Lots of love and twirls!

Your Tutu enthusiast
