Tutu Tuesday in Fulham: A Fashionable Ballet Blogger's Take

So, fellow fashionistas, itโ€™s Tuesday, and that means only one thing โ€“ #Tututuesday! Today, I decided to make my way to Fulham, a chic and stylish neighbourhood nestled in southwest London. My mission? To find the perfect tutu for a special performance, and of course, to soak up the vibrant energy of the area.

The thing about tutus is they're more than just a piece of fabric โ€“ they're an expression of style, elegance, and personality. The classic tulle tutu, a swirling cloud of gossamer light, exudes traditional ballet charm. Then there's the sassy and edgy modern tutu, featuring daring cuts and bold designs. There's a tutu for every occasion and every personality, just like a fashion statement. And finding the perfect tutu for a special occasion can feel like finding your dream dress for prom - excitement, nervous anticipation and that heart-skipping feeling all in one. And honestly, if you can wear a tutu without feeling like a super star you must be missing out on something, that 'je ne sais quoi' , right?

My #tututuesday adventure started at **The Ballet Box**, a hidden gem of a shop overflowing with beautiful dancewear. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly, offering invaluable advice as I perused the racks. The ballet studio was conveniently located in Fulham and easily accessible from both Putney Bridge and Parsons Green stations, allowing me to fully indulge in my dancewear discovery before meeting a friend for a bite at the local gastropub.

My search was further ignited by a delightful conversation with **Caroline**, a ballet enthusiast and the store owner. Caroline's passion for dance, and especially for the artistic and cultural history of the tutu, was truly inspiring. Her deep understanding of the style differences, the way fabrics, cuts and colours contribute to different effects on stage, and how each tutu style enhances a ballet's theme and storyline, was a truly unique and valuable perspective. Caroline had me hooked and as soon as I tried on the first tutu I was lost. What could I choose?! The classic 'Le Corsaire' with it's cascading tiers of tulle in a rich blush hue was definitely a contender for the stage. The sheer black Romantic style tutu , with its simplicity and focus on the perfect line had that effortlessly elegant feel perfect for Swan Lake and the intricately beaded Renaissance tutu for the dramatic Sleeping Beauty seemed tailor made for me to float through the movements like I was born to dance.

However, my heart really did skip a beat when I saw it, hanging there as if whispering my name... The modern asymmetrical tutu! I could see myself twirling on the stage in that masterpiece, its sheer panels creating mesmerizing light and shadow patterns while showcasing my movements to perfection!

My #Tututuesday in Fulham wouldn't have been complete without sampling the delicious local treats - who doesn't love a good afternoon tea after all! **The Secret Garden Tea Room**, is the perfect retreat. Tucked away down a quiet Fulham side street it had that cosy, fairytale like charm that seemed like a magical sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of London. I was treated to an array of delicate finger sandwiches, perfectly brewed tea, and some truly decadent pastries that made every mouthful a taste of bliss! Perfect for fueling that creativity that comes from discovering such unique treasures!

I left Fulham buzzing with excitement and inspired to create magic on the stage with my newly discovered asymmetrical tutu! My #Tututuesday was a testament to the enduring beauty of ballet, and how it continues to capture the imagination and style consciousness of so many.
