Tutu Tuesday in Herne Bay

Oh, Herne Bay, you know how to party! Tuesday, as every savvy dance aficionado knows, is reserved for Tutu Tuesday. And boy, oh boy, did Herne Bay deliver!

This wasn't your average, dusty tutu draped over a clothesline affair, darling. We're talking tulle of all shapes, sizes, and colours! Imagine, if you will, a kaleidoscope of ruffles and layers - think a meringue dream in fabric form. You could spot a ballerina princess frolicking with her court on the beach, and all in tutu perfection.

Speaking of perfection, there were some absolutely jaw-dropping styles! You had the classic, simple tulle pouffe tutus - perfect for those who believe in elegance over exuberance. We had those grand, tiered tutu masterpieces – think full-blown ballerina grandeur fit for Swan Lake, and, of course, there was the daring and modern-day pixie tutu, where minimal tulle brought maximum drama.

But it wasn't all about the tutu itself, oh no. The real star of the show was the sheer joy on everyone's faces. Kids were whirling and pirouetting in their tiny tutus, while grown-up tutuwearers were gracefully strutting their stuff on the promenade. Even the odd doggo was getting in on the action, adorned with a miniature tutu. Pure. Bliss.

I know what you're thinking – "Tutu Tuesday, isn't that a bit…?" Don't knock it till you try it, honey! It's a glorious celebration of movement, freedom, and most importantly, FUN. And, who wouldn't want to twirl in a perfectly pouffy skirt, surrounded by like-minded individuals? This isn't just about tutus; it's about shaking off the mundane and embracing the whimsy of life.

Of course, as a dance-loving gal, I have to spill the tea on some of my absolute favourite Tutu Tuesday moments.

  • There was this sweet, little girl – maybe five years old - spinning like a miniature tornado in a hot pink tutu that seemed twice her size. You could tell she was feeling like a bona fide princess, and it was heart-meltingly adorable.
  • And let's not forget the granny in her vibrant turquoise tutu - she'd ditched her sensible shoes and was tap-dancing to the sound of the seagulls. Talk about embracing your inner ballerina, regardless of age!
  • One particularly fabulous gent was rocking a black tutu and a flamboyant feather boa. Now, that's what I call making a statement!

Let's face it, Tutu Tuesday wasn't just a quirky fashion event. It was a beautiful testament to embracing your inner child. Even the adults who hadn't worn a tutu since their childhood ballet classes were out there, twirling and twirling until their heart's content. What could be more uplifting than a group of people, from all walks of life, united by their shared love for tutus, fun and a little bit of #tututuesday magic?

So, the next time you're feeling a little drab, I urge you – grab yourself a tutu, embrace the joy, and celebrate Tutu Tuesday! The world needs more a little bit of fun, and you know what, Herne Bay just might have the best tutu party in the whole wide world.
