Darlington's Tutu Tuesday: A Fairy-Tale Come True Okay, so I might be slightly biased, but I’m fairly certain that the best day of the week has officially arrived. Let me tell you, I can't possibly contain my excitement! #tututuesday has descended upon us, and darling, the streets are literally flooded with fluffy tutus and disco balls shimmering like the most magnificent disco unicorns you ever did see! (And by disco unicorns, I’m obviously referring to the legendary creatures of shimmering iridescent hues and rainbows - it’s the only kind, obviously.) Let's rewind back to Tuesday morning, just as the first rays of the sun kissed my boudoir – yes, my boudoir, just imagine! (Okay, you probably don’t need to imagine too hard, it's a double room, in a flat, and shares a kitchen and bathroom. However, there are lots of mirrors and an impressive pile of tutu-tastic gear. A little magic touch never hurts right?) And that’s when it hit me, as clear as a glass slipper and just as sparkly – It was **Tutu Tuesday**! A little whisper of a disco tune popped into my head, I sashayed over to my (stuffed full of the most fabulous tulle, sequin-studded, glittery) closet and reached for my latest acquisition… a fluffy pink unicorn tutu. It’s truly a showstopper with delicate embroidery on a super fluffy multi-layered tutu. This isn’t your average "pick a tutu from a box" creation. Darling, you see, this one was hand crafted, meticulously pleated and is crafted with the highest quality chiffon - a sheer dream! It just begs to be worn. (Or admired as it’s hanging, and I do, sometimes I just stand and gaze). (Honestly, you can see rainbows.) You know what, forget everything I said before, this isn’t just Tutu Tuesday - it’s my birthday - it's New Year’s Eve – it's the freakin' best day EVER. Honestly, when you feel like the most fabulous unicorn fairy, with wings and shimmery hoofs that go "click-clack" with every bounce in your tutu, who needs more?! And this isn't just me, it's the entire vibe in Darlington! As I stepped onto the pavement, it was clear, the street was awash in swirling pink tulle, bouncing like a bouncy castle. And my heart practically jumped out of my chest with glee – everyone was rocking a tutu of their own. Let's talk about those tutu styles. (Because it’s not just a skirt, honey). (Not saying everyone’s in their swan lake gear). The girls in Darlington are showing us their version. * But wait! That’s not the end of the story! And look who's got more than a few layers of tutu? That's the tutu for all occasions. For them it’s "go big or go home!” The multi-layered tutu that truly explodes. There's just something glorious and sassy in these tutu styles, (that’s got you wanting to twirl so fast, your whole body wants to disappear into the beautiful swirls.) * Then you have the statement makers: And what do these fashion forward babes have going on? It's tutu mixed with every style. From bold leather jackets, to classic Breton striped tees to, wait for it…the humble tracksuit. Yes you heard that right! Oh Darling! These girls are taking the tutu into a new era, rocking it and turning it into their own statement - this isn’t for you, its for them and they wear it confidently and we're all here for it. * Then you have the dancers – and these girls, oh these girls – they have their tutu to take to ballet class. This isn't for them, it's a way of life. A classic leotard (or maybe it's pink) a bun or even those perfect braided buns and off they go. Some of the girls from Darlington Ballet Club are really letting the ballerina in them shine, I mean it's an extra bonus! There’s no question these girls are gonna get an amazing score. I just need my dance studio now. Okay, you know what’s super fabulous? All these ladies – even those dancing through Darlington (my favorite! and so sassy, not to mention the disco dance moves) – are clearly showing us that a tutu isn’t just for a specific body, its for everyone to enjoy. The whole spirit of Tutu Tuesday in Darlington has been utterly spectacular and there is nothing that I love more than this kind of magic and self-expression. Now, darling, here’s the key part… everyone knows what to do for a proper **Tutu Tuesday**, right? The unwritten rules… * Disco tunes – if you're not doing some serious groove then you are literally missing out on one of life’s greatest pleasures. * Dance moves? There’s no judging on Tutu Tuesday darling. It’s just about letting your body move! So if that means your inner diva has taken over (mine did, especially with my sparkly pink unicorn tutu and I have to tell you, the music playing, everything about this – my friends and I were like we’re here – we’re magical!) * Smiles and fun are the most essential ingredients in this magic.
