Southall Tutu Tuesday: A Day of Unicorns, Sequins, and Glitter!

Hello, darlings! It’s your girl, Anya, back with another fabulous blog post. Today was Tutu Tuesday, and let me tell you, Southall went full-on sparkle explosion! 🦄💖

Now, if you’re not familiar with the glorious tradition that is Tutu Tuesday, allow me to enlighten you. It’s basically the most fantastic day ever for all you tutu lovers out there! From the tiniest twirler to the most seasoned ballerina, everyone whips out their tutus and celebrates all things dance, fashion, and well, glitter! It’s a whole lot of pink, a whole lot of fluff, and a whole lot of fun! 😂

Now, onto my own personal Southall Tutu Tuesday journey! I knew this was going to be special because my girls, Ruby and Daisy, and I were on a serious mission: to make tutu history in Southall! 😎 And by "make history" I obviously mean wear the most gloriously OTT tutus possible, and take photos in front of every cute backdrop we could find. Think massive, fluffy, sparkly tutus, think pink and unicorn galore! 🌈🦄💕

Our first stop was the Southall market, a bustling paradise of colourful chaos. We sashayed through the stalls like ballerinas in a Bollywood musical! My girls were looking fierce - Ruby was in a sassy neon green tutu, paired with a leather jacket for an edgy touch, while Daisy opted for a fluffy lavender tutu with a sparkly, rainbow-striped leotard, totally giving me ‘Enchanted Forest Princess' vibes! I was, of course, channeling the ultimate ballerina-unicorn hybrid in my tulle explosion - a glorious mix of hot pink, fuchsia, and silver. It had everything! Multiple layers, massive bow, sequined fabric, and a rainbow of sequins, just to be sure. 🙈😂

It wouldn’t be a Southall Tutu Tuesday without the iconic ‘Rainbow Chicken’, the infamous Southall mascot! Everyone was posing with that colourful chicken for Insta, and we weren’t going to miss out! You gotta be quick and sneaky for a good ‘Chicken’ picture. The secret is being polite and complimenting the handler! Trust me.😉

Our next stop was the local cafe, a little gem called 'Cafe Sweet Treat'. We looked absolutely ridiculous, of course, because let's be real, what else would be a day in Southall like this if it weren’t ridiculous? 😅 They loved it, and we had an absolute blast with the owner, taking photos in front of their vibrant flower displays and delicious cakes! 🍰🎂

The highlight of the day was, undoubtedly, the flash mob. We weren’t just wearing our tutus, we were embracing them! When 'Dancing Queen' started playing, everyone dropped everything! There were office workers, mums pushing prams, even a guy in a tracksuit! The Southall residents embraced the absurdity and it was magical.💖

Here are my favourite moments, darlings, from #SouthallTutuTuesday:

  • The tutus themselves, obviously! I mean, did you see those beauties? Fluffy, sparkling, full of character, we were looking good. 😍
  • That magical moment when 'Dancing Queen' came on. You just cannot explain the joy of people of all ages letting go and doing their own version of a dance in their own space! Pure, unfiltered happiness, people! 💕
  • The absolute hilarity that followed! People kept mistaking Ruby and I for a married couple! (Seriously, our age gap? Hilarious!). 🤪 I’m quite happy to be “older”, although my girl Daisy had her own opinions! It was a day of lighthearted laughter!
  • Southall truly embracing this fun, silly tradition. From cafe owners to locals, there was a real sense of joy and acceptance, and honestly, we could all do with a bit of that! 😉

Now, my dear darlings, I just have one small question...
What are we doing for next Tutu Tuesday? 🤔
I’m thinking sequins and disco fever! #tututuesday
