Tutu Tuesday in Acton: A Magical Day Out for a Unicorn-Loving Ballerina
It's Tutu Tuesday, the day my heart beats a little faster and my inner ballerina shimmers with delight. You see, Acton is a magical place on Tuesdays – a kaleidoscope of pink tulle, shimmery sequins and glitter. Oh, and let's not forget the unicorns! #tututuesday
Today was going to be epic. A fabulous combination of my three great loves - pink, tutus, and disco music! But this Tutu Tuesday wasn't just about dressing up; it was about joining a community of tutu-loving unicorns in Acton!
It started early. I knew I needed a statement tutu, something that would say, "Hey, look at me, I'm here for the disco ball, glitter, and unicorns!" Luckily, I had just the thing. A frothy pink, full-skirted tulle creation with a hint of sparkly pink sequins around the waistband – perfect for twirling and frolicking! I paired it with a white lace bodysuit for a touch of whimsical elegance. It was like stepping out of a unicorn's dream – with just the right amount of "I can leap and pirouette for days!"
But the true magic unfolded when I arrived at the Acton Town Square
It was bursting with pink, shimmery joy! The scent of sugar floss and glitter filled the air as a gaggle of ladies, all adorned in tutus of every shade, flocked around a dazzling disco ball suspended above a vintage food truck, serving pink cupcakes and unicorn-shaped cookies. There was even a rainbow sprinkle fountain for all to indulge in, it was almost too much cuteness.
It’s almost as though Acton Town Square had transformed into a surreal ballerina's wonderland for the day!
Unicorn Magic
The first stop for me was the unicorn crafting station This place was absolute magic. It was the place to create our own unicorn dreams on paper! We could colour, decorate, and transform these unicorn drawings into sparkly, dazzling magical beings - a beautiful explosion of creativity and color! The laughter echoed through the Square. This magical day, it seemed, was spreading cheer with every smile, every spark of glitter! Next on my unicorn mission was to capture my unicorn dreams And for this, I had my very own Unicorn Mirror Photo Booth! Just as the name suggests, this wasn't your typical selfie zone, oh no. Here we had mirrors adorned with rainbow streamers and sparkles. I struck my most fabulous poses and captured each and every one for posterity. I just knew this one was going to become my most Instagrammed #tututuesday picture ever.Then came the highlight of the day: The Tutu Trot! An enchanting and exhilarating dance competition where participants, young and old, unleashed their inner ballerinas! They sashayed and twirled, and showed off the cutest tutu poses. There was the graceful swan pose, the cheeky pirouette and the ever so confident arabesque. Oh, and who could forget the classic ballet "plié"? This is the Acton dance we’re all looking forward to every Tutu Tuesday!
The Tutus
Now, let's talk tutus. Because no Tutu Tuesday is complete without a variety show of the tutu designs themselves, so let's indulge in some fashion!There were tutus in all shapes and sizes. From the delicate little ballerinas with their short tutus to the flamboyant "Dancing with the Stars" style full-skirted wonders, all dazzling in every shade imaginable, from pastel pink to sunshine yellow.
My absolute favourite? A dazzling sequined tulle design - so extravagant. It featured a stunning combination of pinks and blues that twirled like a swirling galaxy! I also adored a sparkly purple number - a simple and classic piece - a beautiful example of the elegance that tutu's hold for all ages.
The Best Bit?
The very best bit of Tutu Tuesday? The smiles. The way the tutu-clad community, embracing their whimsical spirit, had turned Acton into a magical land. It wasn't just about tutus and unicorns – it was about spreading happiness, letting your inner child run wild, and reminding everyone of the simple joy in celebrating creativity and joy! It's what Tutu Tuesday is all about: a dose of magic in an everyday world.I danced the afternoon away to the beat of a 70s disco track (think Abba meets a pink unicorn) before the day came to an end. I left Acton Town Square full of glitter and sparkle, but above all, feeling invigorated and inspired by the community spirit of Acton and its wonderful, unicorn-loving friends!
