It's #tututuesday in Wrecsam and I'm about to paint you a picture, dripping in sequins and sunshine, of pure tutu-licious mayhem! This week, Wrecsam, the historic town known for its iconic racecourse and charming streets, transformed into a magical realm of twirling and whimsy. We're talking tutus of every colour, length, and style: from the classic, knee-length tulle dreams to the daring, thigh-high feather-boa adorned masterpieces. Seriously, I saw everything from disco ball tutus to those gorgeous Victorian-inspired pieces with those little silk flowers tucked into the seams... ah, utter perfection!
And let's not forget the unicorns! They were everywhere – unicorn ears perched atop tutus, shimmering unicorn horn hair clips, and unicorn tattoos that glistened like they'd been sprinkled with magic dust. Honestly, it was a total sensory overload, and I loved every minute of it.
The day started with a "Tutu Trot", a playful walk through the town center, and honestly, it felt like something straight out of a fairytale! There was so much energy – people giggling, posing, and striking those perfect "ballerina in the park" shots. The air crackled with that special kind of joy you only find at a really great costume party, you know what I mean?
So, what did we see on this day of tutu-tastic wonder?
• We saw the ultimate Tutu Face-Off at the Wrecsam Town Square – a fabulous competition with awards for the Most Creative Tutu, the Most Glamorous Tutu, and of course, the Most Outrageous Tutu! The creativity on display was insane! One gal had made her tutu from recycled plastic bottles (serious green warrior vibes, I'm telling you!) while another, a fearless soul, was rocking a tutu made entirely from balloons (which somehow remained inflated throughout the competition... mind-blowing).
• The streets echoed with the beat of disco as the "Tutu Boogie" hit its peak – a spontaneous dance party at the heart of Wrecsam market. Imagine, glitter, laughter, and a kaleidoscope of tutus bouncing and swishing to the groove of 70s hits! I'm not gonna lie, I was pretty tempted to break out my own moves, but I decided to leave that to the professionals... who knows what havoc my ballet skills might have wreaked. (Don't get me wrong, I'm graceful... when I'm at the barre!).
The True Heart of Tutu Tuesday
You see, #tututuesday wasn’t just about rocking the most dazzling outfit. It was about celebrating everything that makes Wrecsam special, everything about joy, expression, and letting your inner child run wild. This was about bringing people together with the shared passion of twirling and feeling the joy of being themselves. Seriously, seeing these amazing women and men come out, ditch their usual jeans and tees, and embrace their own sparkle? It’s something else!
It wasn’t all about dancing and tutus, though – the event had a fantastic raffle, raising a tidy sum for the Wrecsam Animal Shelter. That just proves what I already knew: you can't beat a town that supports their local animal friends! It just adds to Wrecsam’s charm, you know?
A Personal Note
I've got to say, Wrecsam's #tututuesday blew me away. You know I live for tutus, but witnessing this explosion of color, energy, and sheer, unadulterated fun made me fall even deeper in love with my passion.
