Tutu Tuesday in Droitwich: A Rainbow of Frills and Glitter
Hey lovelies! It's your girl, Pinkalicious Ballerina here, and let me tell you, today's Tutu Tuesday in Droitwich was an absolute DREAM!
Droitwich, the town known for its salt and its quaint charm, was buzzing with a totally different energy this week, and I’m not talking about that delicious, salt-tinged air. We're talking about tutu energy - an ethereal wave of tulle and pink that practically vibrated through the streets. Now, this town doesn't normally boast fashion that resembles a fairytale, so I gotta hand it to the Droitwich folk for embracing the ridiculous with such enthusiastic spirit!
My day started with a flurry of sparkles (because you can never have enough, right?!), as I picked out the PERFECT tutu for my big day in Droitwich. Now, as a dancer, I'm definitely a creature of habit. I mean, we’re creatures of comfort and flow in the most glamorous way! I always go for a classic tutu with the poofy, tiered style because, hey, more layers, more drama, and more of a reason to twirl, right? I paired mine with a dazzling sequined top that sparkled more than a unicorn in disco lights (seriously, don't underestimate the power of sparkles!)
The air in Droitwich buzzed with anticipation as tutus twirled through the streets, each more gloriously fabulous than the next. Some had a delicate romantic tulle - like something out of a ballet production – while others, my favourite, were boldly patterned, almost like they'd come straight out of a carnival parade. You could almost see the glee in everyone's eyes as they admired each other's tutus, sharing high fives, taking photos, and even breaking out into spontaneous impromptu dance battles - the best kind!
What made it truly magical was the unicorn theme running throughout! You'd be forgiven for thinking you had accidentally walked onto the set of a whimsical, pastel-tinted movie. Everywhere you looked, it was like a burst of sunshine, unicorns of all shapes and sizes! I was lucky enough to see one decked out in glitter - basically, my soul animal. They were adorned with fairy lights, woven into flowers and even spotted with rainbow tutus - it's official, I can't get over these little dream horses.
For a lunch fit for a queen of sparkle and rainbows, we headed over to the fabulous 'Tulle & Teal' cafe. Let's be honest, if they didn't have unicorn lattes and fairy cakes on the menu, I don't know if they would even have got away with the "Tulle" in the name, right?! We sipped on our delicious, shimmering beverages (because how could you have any old, boring hot chocolate when you're surrounded by glitter, right?), giggled about the unicorns we had just seen and plotted our next tutu adventure.
What made this day even better? It was filled with so many different types of tutus it could only be described as a rainbow explosion of tulle. I mean, think about it: You have your classic, voluminous tutus like my trusty dancing number, then there were the feathery tutus, which had some feathers but with a soft elegance – and finally, there were the more quirky tutus that were a bit, dare I say it, more of a street style inspiration for those fashionistas who don’t care for traditional. The sky's the limit!
As we embraced the magic and the tulle and swirled our fairy wings in the Droitwich sunshine, we couldn't help but feel the true magic of this day! The fact that a town embraced something so incredibly silly with so much joy and enthusiasm, is what makes Tutu Tuesday so magical!
You know I had to make sure the Tutu Tuesday in Droitwich festivities had the appropriate musical backing, and that's why, as we waltzed around, my favourite 70s disco jams were blasting - the tunes we all know and love! We're talking "Dancing Queen" by Abba, the classics. You can’t wear a tutu without throwing it a bit!
I’m not saying that a Tutu Tuesday every week would turn Droitwich into a unicorn disco haven, but a girl can dream, right? After all, I have a serious sparkle addiction, a wardrobe of fabulous tutus, and an undeniable love of all things pink and twirly. I can't wait for the next Tutu Tuesday! It's going to be EPIC! 🦄✨💃 #tututuesday #unicorntutu
