Pink Tutu Vienna - Blog Post #7: Waltz of Wonder in Vienna

Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, bringing you my seventh instalment from Vienna, a city so beautiful, it practically sparkles in the sunlight! And let me tell you, darling, the sunshine here is something else. It's like a warm embrace that melts all the stress away and sets your soul alight - just like a perfect tutu! 🩰

This week, I’ve been living like a princess in a fairy tale! 👑 Vienna is truly enchanting – the grand palaces, the charming coffee houses, and the atmosphere... oh my! The energy is simply magical! I feel like I've stepped straight out of a ballet storybook.

Speaking of which, dear readers, last week, I was treated to the most fabulous performance at the Vienna State Opera House. It was Tchaikovsky's “Swan Lake," which just happens to be one of my all-time favourite ballets. You see, it’s got it all: drama, romance, elegance, and a touch of magic – all perfectly wrapped up in the exquisite dance and stunning music! It truly transported me, and I found myself swept up in the beauty and emotions of the story.

As I sat in the plush velvet seats, I couldn't help but feel a little overwhelmed by the sheer artistry of it all. The ballerinas were just ethereal, floating across the stage with grace and poise, their tutus swirling around them like clouds. Oh, the tutus were simply magnificent! I made a mental note to find a replica online - perfect for twirling on Vienna’s stunning avenues. And the male dancers? Simply divine. They leapt and twirled with effortless power and precision, capturing the heart of every woman in the audience. I even had to sneak a peek at their costumes… let’s just say, it’s safe to say that I'm completely smitten with ballet! 💖

And, oh my goodness, darling, the city itself! It's like an explosion of baroque beauty and regal grandeur! It’s no wonder that Vienna’s been inspiring ballet companies and artists for centuries! The waltzing tunes practically float in the air – a testament to this city's long and illustrious love affair with dance and music!

My evenings have been dedicated to taking in all that Vienna has to offer – waltzing with strangers on the grand, illuminated squares (a new experience indeed!), sipping delicious coffee at traditional Viennese cafés, and enjoying some fabulous dinner theatre with captivating dancers. You truly can’t walk more than five minutes in this city without bumping into a classical masterpiece or discovering a piece of ballet history. It truly is enchanting.

However, no journey is complete without the right outfit! And you know I like to dress for the occasion. Vienna is the perfect excuse for some truly exquisite attire. It's like the fashion equivalent of a royal decree. My suitcase overflows with stylish frocks, shimmering dresses, and of course, a few darling pink tutus. Let’s just say that I’ve been attracting quite the attention on my walks around the city - and a few admiring glances in the theatre! Just imagine, darling: a delicate, pale pink tutu set off by Vienna's magnificent architecture! Absolutely heavenly! 💕

This week, I took a little trip out of Vienna, riding in a horse-drawn carriage through the Viennese countryside, a leisurely journey that offered breathtaking views. It’s one of the things I wanted to do when I arrived. Vienna was already enchanting, but this excursion took the romance to a whole other level! Imagine, me in a flowing pink tutu, perched upon a beautiful white horse, and a charming, tuxedoed groom in the driver's seat! You’ve got the fairytale in every detail, darling! 💖

Vienna is so full of character and history, so I’ve spent my days delving into its museums, admiring the works of master artists. There's something about the artistry here that’s deeply moving - it's not just the art, but the atmosphere, the history that infuses every room. It truly gives you a sense of being a part of something extraordinary.

Today, I visited Schönbrunn Palace, the former summer residence of the Habsburg emperors and empresses. What a palace, darling! It's like a grand ballet performance all by itself, with its opulent interiors, graceful gardens, and endless, majestic views.

There's something magical about seeing the imperial life played out in front of you, almost as if the emperors and empresses are still there, twirling and waltzing within the gilded halls and lush gardens! 👑 I spent the afternoon enjoying a picnic beneath the majestic trees in the gardens, imagining the glittering balls held under the crystal chandeliers!

I'm sure you can imagine the number of ballet steps I’ve taken around the Palace, finding myself constantly stopping to admire the beautiful gardens. Vienna, darling, is simply the most inspiring place.

Now, as my time here draws to a close, my suitcase is ready for my return journey, laden with souvenirs and memories. Vienna has completely enchanted me - a truly captivating city where even the pigeons seem to waltz and the cobbled streets echo the whispers of emperors and empresses! 💖

But fear not, darlings! This is not the end of my Vienna adventures. I will be back, of course! After all, one can never truly have enough Vienna! My next adventure takes me to the beautiful Hungarian capital, Budapest, and oh my, I'm already excited about sharing my discoveries with you. It will be full of culture, exciting new costumes, a trip on a ship, and naturally, more pink tutus!

Until next week, keep twirling and keep your heads high! 💖

Lots of love, Emma

PS: *Did you know that the waltz, so integral to Vienna's identity, actually originated in Austria? It is thought to have evolved from folk dances during the 17th and 18th centuries, making it the official dance of Austria!
