Vienna Calling! (Post #16) 🩰💖

Hello lovelies!

It’s Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood pink tutu aficionado, back with another instalment from my Vienna adventures! Today marks Wednesday 23rd August 1995, and let me tell you, it’s been a whirl of tutus, trams, and, of course, that magical Viennese charm!

Before we dive into all the loveliness, a quick shout-out to all of you lovely pink tutu enthusiasts. You're keeping me inspired, and I love seeing those beautiful pink tulle swirls around the world. 🌎💖 If you’ve joined me in sporting a tutu for the first time – a massive welcome to the club! This fabulous, whimsical fashion statement knows no boundaries. Don’t forget to share your #PinkTutuVienna adventures, I can’t wait to see your dazzling styles.

Back in Vienna, Where the Music Plays

Vienna. It truly is a city of romance and elegance, perfect for a girl who loves tutus. Since arriving, I’ve found myself utterly enchanted. My hotel is tucked away in a quiet, cobbled side street, filled with sweet little cafes and flower-laden balconies. The sound of waltzes wafts through the air, and even the pigeons seem to waltz around!

Today, my adventure involved a little bit of history, a dash of ballet bliss, and of course, a shopping spree! I love finding those vintage shops tucked away in back alleys, searching for a hidden gem to complete my wardrobe. My favourite find? A beautifully beaded, antique lace top – just perfect for a night at the opera!

Stepping Back in Time with Tutus

My first stop was the Museum of Art History. The architecture itself is breathtaking, a true testament to the splendour of Vienna's history. Inside, I was mesmerized by the paintings of court life. You can almost hear the whisper of silks, the gentle clinking of jewellery, and feel the romance of ballet performances in the opulent ballrooms.

The museum houses a fabulous collection of ballet costumes – a sheer delight for a tutu lover like me! One exquisite embroidered, ivory silk tutu particularly stole my heart. Imagine a performance where every step was painted onto the fabric in vibrant colours. It was a visual masterpiece. 🎨

Speaking of masterpieces, the ballet world itself is abuzz with excitement for the upcoming Vienna State Opera Season. My friend from Derbyshire, Emily, actually booked us tickets to see La Bayadère! I’m soooo excited! We plan on making a real day of it, wearing our finest pink tutus, of course, with matching fascinators for a touch of Viennese glamour. Can’t wait to report back next week with all the fabulous details.

Horsepower & Tutu-ific Treats

You might think this blog is all about twirling and tutus, and you’d be absolutely right! But let’s be honest, a trip to Vienna isn’t complete without a leisurely carriage ride through the heart of the city! Vienna has this enchanting mix of history and modern life, and a horse-drawn carriage is the perfect way to soak it all in. I can imagine all the gorgeous ladies in flowing pink tutus (okay, perhaps I’m just dreaming!), giggling as they take a carriage ride along the majestic Ringstraße.

Afterward, I found a delightful little patisserie – the kind with delicious Viennese pastries that you can just tell have been baked with love. I went for the traditional "Sachertorte", a rich chocolate cake with a light apricot jam filling, absolutely divine! It was the perfect way to end my afternoon, especially enjoyed with a cup of strong coffee and a fluffy pink tutu, of course!

Finding the Perfect Dress (A Pink One!)

My shopping spree continued in the evening with a visit to the chicest vintage store on Kärntner Strasse, a buzzing boulevard full of exquisite boutiques and designer stores. My aim, naturally, was to find the perfect dress for an upcoming charity ballet gala – I was aiming for something dramatic in shades of pink with maybe a bit of lace – I even spotted some antique pink feathers – divine! I will let you know all the details when it arrives in the mail, but just imagine... shimmering pink lace and tulle, twirling on a ballroom floor, perhaps with a tiara? 😉

It truly was a wonderful day of discovering Vienna, filled with delightful moments. You can find more photos of my travels on www.pink-tutu.com, and do let me know your favourite places to visit and your tutu styles – we are always a fashionable community!

See you next Wednesday with a pink-tutu-ful post from Vienna!
