Vienna Waltz: Post #35 from Pink Tutu Vienna

Darling readers,

Happy Wednesday! I'm writing to you from a little Viennese café, sipping on the most delicious apple strudel and admiring the stunning view of St. Stephen's Cathedral through the cafe's charming, arched windows. It’s so lovely to be back in this beautiful city, a city brimming with history, culture, and, of course, some truly exquisite waltzing.

This is my third trip to Vienna and I'm starting to feel like I know the city like the back of my hand (well, almost! Still working on finding the perfect pink tutu shop). Every time I come, I discover a new enchanting detail: a hidden courtyard, a bustling market bursting with fresh produce and blooms, or a cozy bookstore with the most incredible collection of ballet literature. Oh, and don’t even get me started on the music! There's just a certain magic to Vienna, and it really has captured my heart (not to mention my wardrobe!).

This trip, however, has been a bit different from previous visits. Instead of hopping around from ballet class to ballet performance, I've been spending my days exploring Vienna's less-known gems. Yesterday, I spent a wonderful afternoon strolling through the Vienna State Opera House gardens, admiring the gorgeous architecture and picturing myself twirling gracefully across the stage in a blush-coloured tulle tutu. I’m not ashamed to say I did a little twirl myself, just for fun!

After that, I went to the Hofburg Palace and marvelled at the sheer grandeur of the imperial apartments. Imagine dancing the waltz with a Habsburg princess - it would be quite a scene! Perhaps I could convince a fellow ballerina to join me for a vintage ballet performance in these majestic halls? Imagine, a waltz in the Emperor's Ballroom… how utterly romantic!

But, enough about me! I know you're all eager to hear about what's on this week. Now, it just so happens that tomorrow is Vienna's New Year's Day Concert – the annual classical music extravaganza televised all around the globe! I couldn’t be more thrilled to witness the performance from my front-row seat (oh yes, my tutus do grant me special privileges). There is simply nothing quite like the symphony’s opening notes as a beautiful melody begins, filling the entire space, lifting everyone’s spirits, and igniting a warmth within your soul.

If you haven’t had the chance to catch it before, be sure to tune in – and get ready to tap your toes, because it's guaranteed to be a whirlwind of joy! If I can't wear my pink tutu for the entire show, at least I'll be rocking it in the cafe during my pre-performance coffee! It's been known to cause a little commotion (a very stylish one, naturally).

I also must share the news that I've been working on a new choreography based on the story of Princess Sissi (that's Empress Elisabeth for you history buffs) and it's proving quite a challenge! It's meant to reflect her elegant poise and whimsical spirit, while adding my own quirky, playful touches. I’m even thinking of creating a special "Sissi" pink tutu: something lavish and intricately designed, with flowing silk and elegant ruffles. Imagine the blush-toned beauty… I can’t wait to share it with you!

Now, I must run. The coffee is calling my name, and then I must attend a rather exciting meeting. It seems a renowned ballet master wants to talk to me about creating a new tutu line. Did I mention I'm launching my own tutu design studio soon? This meeting could mean quite the change for Pink Tutu Vienna – oh, the excitement! I promise to tell you all about it in my next blog post, next Wednesday, but until then, please, wear your pink tutu with pride!

Bisous,

Emma xx

* Pink Tutu Travel Tips - Vienna *

Whether you're a seasoned ballerina or a first-time visitor, a trip to Vienna is a must for anyone who loves beauty, culture, and, of course, pink tutus. Here are a few tips from my own experiences that I hope will inspire your journey:

  1. Don’t Forget The Waltz: While Vienna is brimming with cultural attractions, make time for a waltz. Whether it’s taking a lesson, joining a performance, or simply twirling on the streets, there's something special about connecting with this tradition in such a historical city.
  2. Embrace the Pastry: Vienna is famous for its sweet treats, so make sure to try the classic strudel. A bit of sugar makes every journey a bit more special.
  3. Get Lost in the Gardens: Many hidden courtyards and gardens abound throughout Vienna. Explore their calming presence and let the city's grandeur melt away for a while.
  4. Fashion with a History: No trip to Vienna would be complete without exploring its sartorial side. Don’t forget to visit the museums and shops dedicated to Habsburg history.
  5. Shop Until you Twirl: You'll find a vast selection of pink tutus, luxurious fabrics, and ballet supplies in Vienna. Treat yourself to some new, beautiful attire and enjoy the Viennese charm.

And don't forget, there is no wrong way to wear your pink tutu! It’s about self-expression and having fun! So embrace the waltz, wear your tutu with confidence, and remember, life is always a beautiful performance – you’re the star.
