Vienna, my dears, Vienna! Post #49 - A Waltz of Whimsy 🩰

Dearest Pink Tutu readers,

Oh, my stars! Vienna is utterly enchanting! As I write this, I'm sitting in a cafe with a giant slice of Sachertorte and my usual pink tutu (naturally!) feeling completely and utterly in love with this magical city. Today was pure pink perfection - and that’s no exaggeration, trust me.

Before I delve into all the delights of this exquisite city, let’s chat a little bit about getting here. It's a bit of a whirlwind! Last week, I performed in the annual ballet gala in Derbyshire, and what a roaring success it was! We had an overflowing audience and everyone was practically bouncing in their seats to our rendition of the Nutcracker's Snow Flake waltz. You should have seen the twinkle in the children's eyes – pure joy and wonder! The proceeds from the gala (which, let's be honest, were significant, given all those ticket sales!) were enough to get me to Vienna and back by train, which is always a treat for a tutu-loving lady like myself!

Oh, how I do love travelling by train. The journey is almost as magical as the destination itself. It’s a great excuse to don my most flamboyant and whimsical travelling attire - think oversized fluffy pink hat, sparkly ballet shoes, and a perfectly poofy tulle tutu that swishes and swirls as I stride along the carriages, spreading joy and smiles with every step! It's the little things, darling!

Of course, Vienna has been a ballet enthusiast’s dream! Just yesterday, I attended a dazzling performance of Swan Lake at the Vienna State Opera. My heart was racing as the ballerinas took to the stage – it was exquisite! Every movement, every gesture, a masterpiece! Oh, to dance like that! I wonder how many times they practised, how many hours they dedicated to achieve that flawless performance? Such discipline! My fingers itched to join them on that grand stage, and I felt a renewed urge to polish up my pirouettes. Perhaps Vienna will inspire a new choreographic routine for the upcoming performance in Derbyshire!

Talking about inspiration, have you seen Vienna's architecture?! It’s like stepping into a storybook – those ornate buildings, majestic squares, and, of course, the beautiful baroque palace – the Hofburg – with its fairytale history. Did you know it was the former imperial residence of the Habsburg dynasty? Honestly, just thinking about it makes me want to waltz into the nearest ballroom in a billowing tutu.

Oh, my love of fashion! You won't believe what I found yesterday – a glorious vintage boutique brimming with gorgeous frilly skirts and decadent lace that wouldn't look out of place in a ballet performance. It was like a pink paradise, and I just had to snag a gorgeous, delicate pastel pink silk scarf. It’s already been matched with a pale blue tutu and a delightful straw hat. So very, very Viennese, don't you think? I simply must take a snap of myself before posting it on the blog. Speaking of the blog, did you catch my latest vlog about how to style a pink tutu for every occasion? It's packed with fabulous ideas – perfect for your everyday activities, like waltzing down the street or popping out for a coffee.

Now, on this perfect Wednesday afternoon, the air is filled with the sounds of Strauss waltzes wafting through the streets. Everything here feels so beautifully curated – from the magnificent palace gardens to the cozy cafes that serve Viennese coffee and the most delicious pastries you can imagine. They even make delicious pink-tinted pastries – pure delight! Vienna certainly knows how to spoil its guests, darling! I shall be making a return visit, of course, so look out for more details on the pink-tutu website – I shall post pictures and my fashion musings there.

In the meantime, my dears, do stay well, embrace the whimsy, and don't forget to wear a pink tutu at least once a week!

Your darling tutu enthusiast,

Emma
