Pink Tutu Vienna: Post #56 - Waltz into Vienna, My Dearest Darlings! 🩰
Good morning, my sweet ballet-loving darlings! It’s Wednesday, and that means it’s time for a brand new post from yours truly, Emma, and I’m absolutely brimming with excitement! This week, I’m waltzing into Vienna, the city of music and romance, in my most fabulous pink tutu, ready to embrace all things whimsical and wonderful!
Vienna – oh, Vienna! The mere mention of its name conjures images of grand palaces, opulent balls, and graceful waltzes. It's a city that’s dripping with history and beauty, and it’s definitely living up to the hype! It’s no wonder that the Viennese Waltz originated here - every street corner seems to beckon you to spin, twirl, and dance your cares away!
This journey, like all my adventures, started with a magical train ride. The gentle swaying of the carriage, the scenery rushing by, and the ever-present hum of excitement as we approached this enchanting city – pure magic! I must confess, I did spend a fair amount of the journey admiring my own reflection in the window (I mean, you wouldn't catch me wearing just any old outfit for a journey to Vienna, would you?), but also reading up on Vienna’s history, and learning all about the ballet scene here. Did you know that the Vienna State Opera is one of the most prestigious opera houses in the world? I'm practically buzzing with anticipation to catch a show later this week!
But before I go all starry-eyed about opera houses, let's talk about tutus, darling! Because a trip to Vienna without a truly grand, dazzling tutu just wouldn't be complete. And let me tell you, this one is a masterpiece. Picture this: a symphony of pink chiffon, delicately gathered and layered, each fold reflecting the morning sunshine. I even had a hand in designing it - I simply couldn't leave the creative liberty to anyone else when it came to my Vienna tutu! My pink-tutu-loving friends are going to die when they see it - they are already green with envy just by the description, bless them! The layers of chiffon give it such a delightful bounce, and when I twirl, I practically feel like I'm floating.
Now, where was I? Oh, yes! This week in Vienna, the main goal is to simply soak in all the magical sights and sounds of this enchanting city. I have a grand itinerary full of elegant cafes (where I plan to enjoy an enormous slice of the most delectable Sachertorte you’ve ever tasted!), a trip to Schönbrunn Palace (rumoured to be absolutely bursting with history), and of course, a visit to the grand Vienna State Opera House - a temple to music, artistry, and, dare I say, exquisite fashion. I can’t wait to get dressed up in a fabulous ballgown for the occasion - just picturing myself with all the glitz and glamour of Vienna! I do love a grand ballroom! Did I mention I'm in my best pink tutu, because what trip to Vienna would be complete without one? I will, of course, document it all for you on my blog. It’s a shame you can't be here with me, but at least you can join me on this journey through my writing!
Speaking of journeys, have you heard about my plans for later this week? Oh my, it's exciting! My ballet company is performing a very special gala this Saturday at the stunning Hofburg Palace. Talk about a prestigious stage! I can't help but feel like a princess when I step onto that stage, but then I realise I always feel that way! 🩰💖 I will be dancing my heart out to celebrate everything ballet. The performance promises to be unforgettable, and I just know that the energy in the air will be positively electric! The best bit? There’s no audience in the world I would rather share the stage with than the gracious Viennese ballet fans! I love performing and travelling, the magic just seems to sparkle a bit brighter on tour, especially when we get to dance in historical cities with beautiful theatres.
I also had an adventure I'm going to have to tell you all about - I spent the day riding a horse through the beautiful countryside! It’s the most delightful way to explore, especially when you have your best pink tutu fluttering behind you (it really was a delightful addition to the occasion!). The horses are gentle and beautifully kept, and the trails took us past fields of wildflowers and vineyards. This part of Austria was truly magical. We enjoyed a lovely lunch beside a small pond. What more could you ask for? This truly was an adventure for a ballerina - even the horses seem to enjoy tutus - mine always attracts so much admiration. And I am, of course, going to tell you all about it, and about the riding school, because I need you to experience this magical part of Austria too!
I can't wait to share more with you about my adventures in Vienna next week. It really has been a delight - from the moment I stepped onto the train I have fallen in love with the city. And remember, if you want to travel the world, be brave, bold and daring - follow your heart and be inspired by others! I just hope my little corner of the world of fashion, ballet and travel helps you be brave and achieve all your dreams, because you know, life is short, why not wear a tutu?
Until next week, darling!
Lots of love and pink tutus, Emma
