Pink Tutu Vienna - Blog Post #113 - A Whirlwind of Waltz & Wiener Schnitzel!

Hello darlings! It’s Wednesday again, and you know what that means… it’s time for another Pink Tutu Vienna blog post! I’m writing to you today from the heart of Vienna, where the air smells like freshly baked strudel and the streets are lined with buildings so beautiful they seem to be plucked straight from a fairytale. I swear, it’s as if Cinderella herself sprinkled fairy dust all over this magnificent city!

As you all know, Vienna holds a special place in my heart – it's a city bursting with history and artistry. Today's adventure is all about embracing the Viennese waltz, a tradition I simply can't resist! The rhythm, the elegance, the sheer joy of twirling in the heart of this magical city… It's pure enchantment, and I'm living for every minute of it.

Speaking of enchanting… did I tell you I had the most darling tea party at Hotel Sacher yesterday? The afternoon tea there is legendary, with an abundance of delicate finger sandwiches, warm scones, and mountains of the most delicious cakes and pastries I’ve ever encountered. They even had tiny pink macarons! You can bet I indulged in a little (okay, a lot of) sugar-filled heaven!

I also managed to squeeze in a little retail therapy at the Glorietta yesterday. This fabulous boutique in the heart of Vienna was just calling my name! You can imagine how thrilled I was to find an absolutely gorgeous, bubblegum-pink tutu to add to my ever-expanding collection. Honestly, it practically chose me. There was just something about the tulle, the sheer femininity of it, and the vibrant colour – a little like Vienna itself!

I was even lucky enough to catch the most spectacular performance of “Giselle” at the Staatsoper last night. I love seeing the grand ballet companies at work, the mastery, the beauty, and of course, the magical tutus! And let’s not forget the breathtaking costumes – absolutely fit for royalty, my dear! I practically gasped when the Act II spirits floated onto the stage, their gowns shimmering like moonlight on a snowdrift.

As much as I love the ballet, however, there is more to Vienna than twirling and sugar plums! Today’s focus is all about embracing the vibrant culture and the local treats. This afternoon, I’m planning to visit the Naschmarkt – a market that’s been buzzing with energy since the 16th century. It’s a feast for the senses with a captivating mix of smells and flavours. I can already taste the spices from far-off lands and imagine the juiciest, most succulent Wiener schnitzel ever.

Speaking of flavours, don't even get me started on the Viennese coffee culture. A trip to Vienna wouldn't be complete without indulging in a perfectly brewed Melange – it's rich, creamy, and utterly divine. I think I might even try my hand at a Vienna Roast today – fingers crossed!

Of course, what’s a trip to Vienna without a bit of waltz fever? Later, I'll be taking a lesson at one of the many waltz schools in Vienna. The Ballhaus Wieden has already been recommended to me, and I simply can't wait to whirl myself into the heart of Viennese dancing.

Vienna has me absolutely spellbound, with its magnificent palaces, the graceful architecture, the vibrant markets, and the sheer romance of it all. The city's charm has completely enchanted me – like a true fairytale princess.
