Vienna Waltz - Pink Tutu Diaries #130

Guten Tag, my lovely pink tutu enthusiasts!

This week I'm writing to you from the enchanting city of Vienna! Yes, that's right, Vienna, the birthplace of Mozart and the Waltz! And you can be sure that I'm here to see everything pink and twirly imaginable.

This trip, I'm travelling by train. I adore the romance of rail travel, and it gives me the opportunity to enjoy the changing scenery. So, off I went from the rolling hills of Derbyshire to the beautiful countryside of Germany, before finally reaching this fabulous city. Speaking of romance, imagine the beauty of a pink tutu in a train carriage, reflecting the light streaming through the windows. It's enough to make any tutu enthusiast weep!

But first, let's chat a little about my week. Wednesday arrived, and it was ballet time! You know me, I can't go a week without twirling. I popped over to the Staatsoper to catch a beautiful production of Swan Lake. The costumes, the choreography, the sheer passion of the performance – it was simply divine! Honestly, the sheer grandeur of the theatre left me speechless. This Vienna State Opera is over 300 years old, just imagine how many ballets and operas have taken place within its walls!

Tutus, of course, are my passion, and I just had to go and see the beautiful new costume exhibition at the Vienna Museum of Performing Arts. Can you imagine? Entire rooms dedicated to tutus! The historical ones were breathtakingly delicate, with layers of soft tulle and intricately beaded designs. Some of the tutus dated back to the early 19th century, almost a century older than me! It was fascinating to see how tutu design evolved over the years, from the short, puffed versions favoured in the early days of ballet to the billowing creations we see today. It’s amazing to think that one item of clothing can tell such a story!

Vienna is also a dream come true for a fashion-obsessed girl like me. I’ve been to so many charming boutiques, browsing through rows upon rows of gorgeous clothes. It’s such a different experience from shopping back home. Here, it feels like every garment has its own little story, a hint of European charm. I've treated myself to a beautiful silk scarf with a delicate floral pattern. And naturally, a vibrant pink feather boa, perfect for adding a touch of elegance to my evenings out!

Speaking of evenings out, tonight I’m heading to the opera! I've got a prime seat for Mozart's "The Magic Flute" and I'm so excited to experience this classic in Vienna. Now, imagine the sheer spectacle of that on stage! You can’t beat it.

Tomorrow I'm planning a visit to the Schönbrunn Palace, the summer residence of the Habsburg emperors. I’m excited to step back in time, stroll through the gorgeous gardens and even catch a horse-drawn carriage ride. Think how charming it’d be to glide through the grounds, the clip-clop of the horses a romantic soundtrack to the beautiful landscape… all in a beautiful pink tutu of course!

I am completely charmed by Vienna, this wonderful, artistic city overflowing with culture, music, history, and delicious coffee. I’ve got a feeling I’m going to be coming back here again and again. After all, what’s a pink tutu enthusiast without a healthy dose of culture and elegance?

Until next week, remember to spread the love, be bold, be brave, and twirl like no one's watching. Oh, and don't forget to wear pink!

Much love,

Emma xo
