Pink Tutu Vienna #131: Waltz, Wiener Schnitzel and Whimsy

Oh my dears! Can you believe it’s Wednesday already? The week just flits by when you’re busy chasing your dreams – which, in my case, is twirling in a pink tutu around the globe. And where am I twirling today? Well, darling, you guessed it
Vienna, the City of Music, Waltz, and
 wait for it
 tutues, my lovelies!

It’s my first time in Vienna, and oh, it’s positively divine! The architecture, the coffee shops, the parks... It’s as if they’ve plucked a scene straight out of a fairytale, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Vienna, you see, is a city synonymous with the ballet. It's where some of the most iconic ballet dancers and choreographers graced the stage. We're talking legendary names like Johann Strauss II, who wrote The Blue Danube, which just has to be one of the most romantic waltzes in history! My little heart just soars every time I hear it! It’s no wonder that the Vienna State Opera, one of the world’s most famous opera houses, is located right here, and ooh la la, you know what that means... more ballet performances! This is bliss!

A Parisian Inspired Shopping Spree!

I had to do some shopping before heading to the opera. And oh my, this city doesn’t disappoint! It was positively Parisienne, with little boutiques tucked down charming lanes, overflowing with exquisite fashions.

My favourite find, darling, was this utterly divine vintage lace dress at a boutique near the opera house. Think pale pink with delicate ivory floral lace that whispered secrets of romantic dreams and bygone eras. I just knew I had to have it, it screamed “Vienna” to me! Naturally, it couldn’t have looked more fabulous paired with my signature, custom-made pink tulle tutu, that always finds its way into my suitcase, and a delicate pink ribbon tied around my hair! My lovelies, I’m practically radiating romance!

Vienna State Opera - An Enchanting Evening!

Speaking of romance, the opera was truly a sensory feast. The chandeliers, sparkling like a thousand stars, lit up the ornate theatre. The velvet seats felt so luxurious against my satin skirt and my pink tutu shimmered under the stage lights. It was simply perfect.

*I do hope the ballet dancers of Vienna knew their every pirouette and arabesque were a beautiful sight to my *pink tutu eyes, * *because honestly, I had goosebumps galore!

But before the curtain rose, the true delight was the public, my dears. They all looked like they had stepped out of a fairytale – I mean, really, they had all these fabulous, glamorous dresses, exquisite suits, and an air of exquisite elegance. And here I was in my little pink tutu, feeling utterly at home among these fashionably savvy folk! Who knew tutu's and grand opera would work so well together?! I'll be honest with you darlings, my confidence got an absolute boost - I practically shone!

A Viennese Food Feast!

Oh my, I cannot forget the food! It’s simply sensational! They’ve been serving Wiener Schnitzel here for centuries and for a good reason, my dears. It's positively delicious! Light, crispy, and coated in a heavenly breadcrumbs... heavenly! And it goes so well with a magnificent glass of Austrian white wine, chilled and perfect for the warm afternoon weather!

I even tried a slice of Sacher-Torte, the classic Austrian chocolate cake. Honestly, It’s not just a dessert, it's a decadent experience, my lovelies! The perfect blend of rich chocolate and apricot jam - pure delight! I had mine while listening to some lovely live musicians playing classical tunes at a nearby cafe - perfection!

Vienna... the Perfect Ballet Inspiration?

Don’t even get me started on the horse-drawn carriages. So elegant! As I watched a charming young couple sharing a ride under the sunset, a thought occurred to me. Vienna is the perfect inspiration for a new dance piece. A whimsical waltz, set in a charming cafĂ©, with horses and pink tutus, of course!

This is what I’m here for! Inspiration! New dreams to capture! And tutus! Always the tutus! I can’t wait to translate this vibrant city into something special. This whole trip is a beautiful canvas, ready for my ballet brushstrokes.

Oh, but this pink tutu-wearing ballerina must get going! Tomorrow is another day, and new adventures are just waiting to be discovered! More Viennese waltzes, more fabulous fashion, and more inspiration! Until next week, darlings! Love and tutus!

XOXO, Emma
