Pink Tutu Vienna - Post No. 132: A Waltz in Vienna

Oh, my darlings! Vienna. This magnificent city! As I sit here, my pink tulle tutu swishing gently in the breeze, the city lights sparkling through the open window of my charming little hotel room, I simply must tell you all about this amazing adventure.

This is my thirteenth trip to Vienna, but it's always a joy to come back, each time like a fresh beginning! This city holds so many delightful memories for me. It was here, during my first visit many years ago, that I truly embraced the "pink tutu lifestyle" - I actually found the perfect shade of pink tulle on my first afternoon! Of course, I had to have it! I was so excited to wear it everywhere I went! That, dear readers, is the true Pink Tutu Way ā€“ being brave, following your dreams, and spreading joy with every swish!

And this week has been filled with magic! The air buzzes with a vibrant energy here in Vienna ā€“ it truly is the city of music. My week kicked off with an incredible show at the Vienna State Opera, The Magic Flute, so beautiful! Mozart truly understood the art of blending opera with sheer entertainment. My seat was perfect ā€“ just behind the royal box, what a view! Afterwards, I couldn't resist a little browsing in the gorgeous designer shops on KƤrntner StraƟe. You see, my dear friends, the shopping in Vienna is quite unlike anything you will find back in our little Derbyshire.

On Tuesday, I was swept away on an unexpected adventure ā€“ a horse-drawn carriage ride through the magnificent Schƶnbrunn Palace Gardens! Now, you all know Iā€™m an avid equestrian, and the graceful trot of those magnificent steeds, the tinkling bells, the crisp autumn airā€¦ just exquisite! The garden was so breathtakingly beautiful, even more captivating in this late autumnal light. The gentle rustle of leaves underfoot as we passed through the stunning pathsā€¦ ah, my heart sang!

Wednesday saw me finally in Vienna's famed "ballet hub", the Vienna State Ballet, for a class. The energy was incredible. The class was packed! It felt so good to stretch and flow with these lovely Viennese dancers! We were studying a pas de deux sequence from Tchaikovskyā€™s "The Nutcracker". A piece so full of history! The music - so whimsical, so beautifulā€¦ it took us right into a world of fantasy, as if we were about to embark on a journey with Clara through the snow-covered Land of Sweets!

But the real highlight of the week was, of course, attending the legendary Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra concert! Oh, what an experience! I felt as if I were part of history. I could tell everyone in the audience felt that same magic - so quiet and still when the concertmaster walked out. It's like we all collectively held our breath in anticipation. And then, as the opening notes of the piece were played, it was pure bliss. The sheer brilliance of the performance, the richness of the sound ā€“ a perfect harmony that seemed to envelop the whole world, a truly profound and moving experience!

And did I tell you? I found a new shade of pink! Itā€™s a dusty rose, and itā€™s the perfect addition to my collection. I simply had to have it. Now, I must dash to my evening appointment. My first class for new "Pink Tutuā€ enthusiasts ā€“ ā€œA Guide to Finding your Inner Tutu"! I am so thrilled to share my passion for all things tutus and, of course, for all things pink! My dear friends, nothing quite matches the joy of dancing in a beautiful, shimmering pink tutu, of letting it spin and twirl, and embracing the fun and sparkle it brings.

Until next week, keep your head high, and your tutus twirling! Remember, there is always something beautiful waiting to be discovered, and the world is filled with people eager to share your joy.

See you on the other side!

xx Emma
