Pink Tutu Vienna: Post #134 - A Waltz through Vienna

Hello lovelies!

It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Vienna adventure! Today I'm whisking you off to the beautiful city of Vienna, a city that's been swirling in my mind ever since I first discovered the iconic Waltz of the Flowers from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker.

This week has been a whirlwind of waltzes, pastries, and even a glimpse of the world-famous Spanish Riding School! (Did you know that the Lipizzaner horses they use are bred specifically for their high-stepping gaits? Talk about elegance!)

Before I share the highlights, a quick catch-up. Did you see my gorgeous new pink tutu from that divine shop in Salzburg? It’s just perfect for dancing on a cobblestone street or even twirling through a Viennese cafe. If you follow my Instagram (username: pinktutuvienna, of course!), you’ve probably already seen my snaps! I even paired it with a charming pink beret!

Whimsical Wednesday: Vienna’s Treasures

Vienna’s got something magical in the air. I could almost hear Strauss’s "The Blue Danube" waltzing through the streets! It's no wonder this city is called the “City of Music”. I've spent my days strolling through grand squares, sipping Viennese coffee at charming cafĂ©s, and even attending a stunning ballet performance at the Vienna State Opera! It was absolutely breathtaking - the dancers, the music, the grandeur of the theatre, it all came together to create a truly magical experience.

This afternoon, I stumbled upon a charming boutique that sold the most exquisite handmade lace, perfect for a DIY tutu project. It was love at first sight! Now I have a beautiful pink tutu planned for my trip to Budapest next week – just picture me dancing across the Chain Bridge!

Speaking of tutu history, Vienna has its own special connection. Remember our lovely Maria Theresa, the Habsburg Empress? She actually created a "Tutu-like" outfit for the court dancers of the day, a precursor to what we see today, but with gorgeous intricate trimmings. I'm on the hunt to find the exact fabric they used... wish me luck!

Friday’s Fashion Flair: Viennese Style

Oh my! You wouldn't believe the delightful shops and boutiques Vienna has. My wallet might be lighter, but my wardrobe is now filled with the most adorable frills and lace, perfect for my tutu wardrobe! From exquisite pink handbags to feather boas fit for a fairytale, Vienna is a haven for fashionable souls like myself.

This Saturday, I even popped into the fabulous Schönbrunn Palace (I did mention how much I love the Habsburgs, right?) It’s like stepping straight out of a fairy tale with the most beautiful gardens! My photos were spectacular, complete with a vibrant pink background and me looking simply divine in my new ruffled skirt (pink, of course!)

Sunday’s Serenade: The Waltz of Vienna

A truly unforgettable day. I treated myself to an afternoon at the Schönbrunn Palace, where the Lipizzaner horses of the Spanish Riding School perform their elegant and impressive "high school" movements. Imagine, horses performing a series of complex manoeuvres, all with a remarkable precision!

But Vienna isn't just about beautiful horses and dazzling ballrooms. After the horses’ display, I ventured into the Viennese Woods (the “Wienerwald”!) to indulge in some picturesque nature. Vienna may be a bustling city, but it also offers serenity, surrounded by lush greenery.

Sunday was also a time for reflections. I can’t believe how quickly this journey is passing by! I am just bursting with the inspiration this city has given me – for my future travels, for my next ballet piece (can you guess what I’m working on
!), and most of all for a little creative inspiration for the upcoming Pink Tutu Fashion Week in Paris! (I'm still debating my finale outfit – the world awaits! Stay tuned, lovelies!)

And that brings us to the end of my Vienna diary. Next Wednesday, I'll be bringing you back with a special story from Budapest - with a little bit of fashion, history, and of course, a dash of Pink Tutu magic! Until then, be sure to dance with the joy in your hearts, always, and don't forget to spread the pink tutu love!

Lots of twirls and pink kisses,

Emma xx

P.S. I can’t go a whole week without a mention of a ballet performance. Today I am off to the Theatre an der Wien to see an enchanting interpretation of “Giselle”! Can you tell I am obsessed with everything dance-related?!

P.P.S. My friend told me today she is going to be on the new dancing TV show in the UK, “Strictly Come Dancing”. That’s inspired me to have my first dancing lesson since I came to Austria - imagine the results?! Oh, to twirl my pink tutus in a Ballroom ... how divine!
