Vienna, Oh Vienna! 🩰💕

Post Number 135, Wednesday, December 3rd 1997

Hello darlings, and welcome back to my little corner of the internet, where tutus reign supreme and dreams are spun in pink! It’s Wednesday again, so it’s time for a brand new post from yours truly, Emma, your pink-tutu-loving travel companion, direct from Vienna, Austria. Oh my dears, I'm simply bursting with excitement! The energy in this beautiful city is as intoxicating as a Viennese waltz! Let's grab our ballet shoes, spin, and take a peek, shall we?

Now, I wouldn’t be a proper pink-tutu-wearing blogger without mentioning the fabulous fashion scene here! Vienna is truly a feast for the eyes, with gorgeous boutiques showcasing the finest in Austrian fashion. I have a confession – I practically bought out one entire shop today! It's all so incredibly stylish – chic coats, exquisite blouses, and, of course, oh-so-pretty dresses fit for a royal ball (though I might prefer a pink tutu to a ballgown, wouldn’t you?).

And speaking of dancing, let’s not forget the reason I’m in this delightful city – the ballet, of course! Tonight, darling readers, I am attending the Vienna State Opera to watch Giselle! This is a ballet I've been aching to see since I was a little girl dreaming of becoming a ballerina (it still remains a secret ambition, but don’t tell anyone!), and I am positively bubbling over with anticipation! Oh, it's almost time for curtain up! I must away, but before I do, a little more about this magical city:

A Whirlwind of History and Charm

I love wandering the cobbled streets of Vienna, soaking up the enchanting atmosphere and gazing at the majestic architecture that seems to whisper stories from a bygone era. From the Schönbrunn Palace, with its breathtaking gardens and rich history, to the Hofburg Palace, once the grand home of the Habsburg dynasty, Vienna is brimming with historical charm. It feels as though I’ve stepped into a storybook!

Speaking of fairy tales, Vienna also boasts some fascinating tutu history! Did you know that the famous Spanish Riding School in Vienna boasts an impressive collection of 18th century riding costumes, and some are quite literally inspired by tutus! It's such a wonderful nod to the beautiful combination of dance and artistry that makes ballet so enchanting.

I have, of course, visited the iconic State Opera House. This magnificent building, draped in history, is a monument to Vienna’s unwavering dedication to music and dance. Its grand facade is awe-inspiring, and its interiors are a feast for the senses, an elaborate, glamorous haven of plush velvet, golden chandeliers, and a breathtaking aura of creative brilliance. I feel an immediate sense of wonder every time I enter this theatre - like magic is about to unfold!

Speaking of enchantment, I had a little adventure earlier today - a delightful horseback ride through the Prater, Vienna’s grand green space! I truly love horse riding; it gives me such a wonderful sense of freedom, a connection to nature, and it just seems to match the graceful nature of ballet perfectly, don’t you think? It’s truly wonderful to see the Prater with its carousel rides and other amusement attractions in such a natural setting, so serene and peaceful in the crisp, Austrian air!

As I hop on the train back to my hotel, I can’t help but smile. Vienna has captured my heart, with its beauty, grace, and, of course, its captivating ballet! There's just something magical about this city, and I know it will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Well, my darling readers, it's almost showtime, and I have a beautiful ballet dress waiting for me! It’s the perfect combination of pink and sparkles, of course, a stunning combination for a special night of dance!

Until next time, With love and a sprinkle of fairy dust,

Emma 💕
