Pink Tutu Vienna: Blog Post #137 - December 17th, 1997

Darling readers,

Welcome back to my little corner of the internet! Today is a special day - itā€™s Wednesday, which means a brand new Pink Tutu Vienna blog post! This week, Iā€™m waltzing straight from the cobbled streets of Vienna into your inbox, ready to share another whirlwind of pink and twirling with you.

First, a little confession: Iā€™ve been utterly enchanted by Vienna! This city is the epitome of elegant charm. Everywhere you look, thereā€™s history swirling around you, like a beautiful ballet sequence, just waiting to unfold. Every corner feels like a secret, every cobblestone tells a story, and every cafe beckons you in for a steaming cup of Viennaā€™s finest.

It's no wonder I felt so at home here. Vienna has long been considered the heart of the ballet world. We're talking Mozart, Beethoven, Straussā€¦ the list goes on! And honestly, how could any tutu-wearing soul resist the allure of such a historical and artistic hub?

Now, letā€™s dive into what Iā€™ve been up to since I last sent you a message. My trip here is going swimmingly (no pun intended!).

Vienna in Pink:

My current ballet performance tour took me straight from the countryside of Derbyshire to the opulent Opera House here in Vienna, and I must say, the crowds were incredible! I danced alongside talented dancers from around the globe, sharing the stage with swans, princesses, and yes, even a few mischievous mice (courtesy of my own little ā€œtwinkle toesā€, of course!).

My new "Dancing Daisies" pink tutu went down an absolute storm, as did my new floral headdress - perfect for a whimsical winter performance. I think it's all about letting the colours shine through in Vienna! Itā€™s truly inspiring to be surrounded by such talented artists who share my love of expressing ourselves through dance and style.

And oh, darling readers, shopping! You just can't talk about Vienna without mentioning the breathtaking selection of vintage stores and designer boutiques hidden in its charming corners. My pink heart nearly burst with delight as I unearthed the most magnificent pair of fuchsia pumps (perfect for my upcoming Snow White performance!).

From Ballrooms to Ballets:

Speaking of Snow White, Iā€™m thrilled to announce that next week, Iā€™m off to a magical ballet at the Vienna State Opera. I canā€™t tell you how excited I am! They are performing a classic version of Snow White and let me tell you, the production is simply breathtaking! Imagineā€¦ costumes, sets, and music that will leave you spellbound! I simply canā€™t wait to share all the details with you next week.

The Charm of Vienna

The real beauty of Vienna lies beyond the opera houses and the vintage shops. Itā€™s in the friendly locals who welcome you with open arms, the cozy cafes that offer delectable pastries and heartwarming conversations, and the bustling streets that hum with a vibrant energy. I have been fortunate enough to stumble across the most wonderful cafes and coffee houses, with pastries that make you want to swoon!

And now for the part youā€™ve all been waiting for: Tutu History! Today, we are discussing ballroom dancing. It all started with the waltz. It was first danced in Austria and Vienna, back in the 16th century and spread throughout the world during the 18th Century! So when we twirl around in a waltz, it feels magical - as though we are touching the magic of centuries gone by. Itā€™s no wonder that the waltz, a symbol of romantic elegance, found its place in the grand ballets of the time. Ballet performances today carry the legacy of this incredible form of dance, and each graceful twirl pays homage to those who danced before us.

Now, my dears, I'm off to practice for my upcoming show. I have some new steps to learn and a few extra sparkles to add to my new tutu. Keep an eye on my blog next week - I'll be spilling all the secrets about my Snow White adventure and sharing all the glitz and glamour of a performance at the Vienna State Opera. Until then, twirl beautifully and spread joy with a touch of pink wherever you go!

Yours ever-so-tutu-ly,

Emma
