Pink Tutu Vienna: Post #147 - Vienna's Waltz of Wonder! 🩰

Wednesday 25th February, 1998

Guten Tag, my darling readers! It's Emma here, fresh off the train and ready to share my latest Vienna adventure with you. Oh, how I love the romance of arriving by train - the clattering wheels, the glimpses of rolling countryside, and the sense of anticipation that fills the air. Just like a ballerina, you know, each journey is a new beginning!

This week, I'm waltzing my way through Vienna's enchanting heart. The air here is filled with music and history - a symphony of Mozart, a whisper of emperors and empresses, and the fragrant scent of coffee and pastries. What could be more wonderful?

And wouldn't you know it, I stumbled upon a truly magical moment! Just yesterday, I happened to be near the magnificent Schönbrunn Palace, where I was doing some research on the origins of the ballet – yes, you heard me right! – tutu history! 🤫 It seems the tutus we know and love today owe a huge debt to the grandeur of the Habsburg Court. I was glued to my history book when I heard a burst of music, the enchanting strains of Strauss, and saw the most wonderful sight!

A group of young ballerinas were dancing outside the Palace gates, a captivating display of grace and artistry. They were wearing the most stunning, pale pink tutus! Oh, how my heart swelled with joy! It seemed as though every movement of theirs resonated with the spirit of Vienna itself.

And how I loved watching them – a true reminder of why I fell in love with ballet. It's an art form that speaks to the soul, that tells stories without a single word, and that takes us on magical journeys. In fact, it's my absolute passion – that’s why I funded my entire journey to Vienna with a series of performances in Derbyshire. Now I'm touring all across Europe with my trusty pink tutu, spreading joy, sharing my passion and, of course, collecting even more beautiful memories!

Vienna itself seems to echo with the spirit of ballet! The grand avenues, with their wide streets, are practically designed for grand pas de bourrée and graceful arabesques! Every cafe becomes a stage for the unfolding drama of life, and even the cobbled streets seem to pulse with rhythm!

But this is no mere fairy tale, my dear readers, for even in the midst of such artistic wonders, there's always room for a little practicality. Vienna has some amazing shops - and not a single one without an abundance of pink, naturally! I'm already feeling quite full to the brim with exquisite pink trinkets and accessories, all of which I'm desperate to share with you on the blog soon.

And wouldn't you know it, even here in the heart of Europe, Vienna's embrace is as warm and welcoming as the sun itself! I've already had some wonderfully enlightening chats with the locals – particularly the charming group of Vienna's own ballet aficionados I met at a delightful little pastry shop, Sacher by name, for some divine Sachertorte. They were so excited about my little blog - and when I mentioned that I'm dedicated to spreading the pink tutu message all across the world, well, you should have seen the twinkle in their eyes. They're already plotting an entire pink tutu movement right here in Vienna!

I must tell you, this pink tutu business is getting serious, my darlings! The more I travel, the more I realize that my little blog isn't just about tutus and pink – it's about connecting, about sharing our love of ballet, and, yes, maybe even a little bit about spreading joy around the world, one twirling pink tutu at a time!

Don't forget to join me again next Wednesday, darlings, for another adventure straight from the heart of Vienna. Until then, may your life be as full of joy, music and wonder as my own. And remember, everyone can be a ballerina - all it takes is a twirl, a little bit of confidence, and a pink tutu!

Sending you my love and warmest wishes!

Yours in pink and pirouettes,

Emma xoxoxo
