Pink Tutu Vienna - Post #177: Waltz Through Vienna, A Tutu-tiful Tale!

Oh my darling readers, Vienna, what a city! A true masterpiece, overflowing with culture, history, and a dash of fairytale charm. I swear, this city was made for tutus, and I’m here to spin you a whirlwind tale of my adventures so far!

Remember how I was telling you about my love of all things pink and pretty? Well, darling, this week's escapades are straight out of a pink princess dream! Vienna's been absolutely enchanting, and I'm just brimming with stories about waltzing through elegant ballrooms, strolling through majestic parks, and devouring Viennese pastries. It’s just the sweetest indulgence, like a sprinkle of sugar on top of a perfectly crafted ballerina bun.

And speaking of ballerina buns, I have been taking ballet class here at the Vienna State Opera! Talk about a truly exquisite experience. It's the oldest opera house in the world and a symbol of Vienna’s glorious cultural heritage. Stepping onto that stage felt like walking through a time portal, imagining the ghosts of famous ballerinas gracing the floor before me. You could practically hear the soft melodies of Mozart, Strauss, and Beethoven whispering in the air!

But my darling dears, let’s start with how I even got to this stunning city, shall we? You know I adore travelling by train – there’s just something romantic about chugging across continents, especially when I can wear my newest tulle skirt and indulge in a delicious cuppa. This week, my adventure started with a breathtaking train journey across the countryside. Green meadows, rolling hills, and quaint villages whizzed by my window, creating a picture postcard backdrop for my travels. Oh, how I wish I had the time to explore each village and each tiny station!

Vienna itself felt like a fairy tale unfolding, all graceful architecture, ornate palaces, and a symphony of sound from the horse-drawn carriages that trotted around the cobbled streets. Speaking of, my darling friends, the carriage ride I took was simply breathtaking. I felt like Cinderella gliding through the streets in my shimmering pink tulle dress, surrounded by the fragrant aroma of Viennese coffee.

As soon as I settled into my elegant hotel (can you even imagine, I even had a crystal chandelier in the bathroom!), I had to take a twirl in my pink tutu. Yes, it had travelled all the way from Derbyshire with me, and it felt right at home in this city that appreciates beautiful things, including the joy of movement and a playful spirit. My first stop? The Vienna State Opera! Oh, it’s so much more than just a place to watch ballet. It's an embodiment of elegance and history, a reminder that ballet is a timeless art form, a powerful blend of grace, strength, and beauty.

Now, you know I am absolutely besotted with all things vintage, particularly anything to do with tutus, so, of course, I made a beeline for the Vienna Museum! The exhibits on ballet history left me practically speechless. Did you know, the oldest ballet dress ever found dates back to the 18th century, and is made of silk and hand-stitched with beautiful embroidery? My, oh, my, how I yearn to get my hands on that exquisite garment! And they had the most exquisite collection of pointe shoes! I nearly cried! It was such an incredible journey through the world of ballet!

Then, off to a fabulous shopping spree in Vienna’s grand boulevards! This city is a haven for exquisite vintage pieces, like delicate tulle shawls and vintage beaded purses that make me want to wear them with my tutus for the ultimate ballet-chic look. I discovered a vintage tutu that would have been perfect for my great-grandmother’s time. All hand-beaded with such fine craftsmanship! Oh, how I wish it would fit me. Maybe one day I'll have it made to fit. What do you think, dears? I might even do a post all about how I imagine she would have styled it!

Talking about vintage, darling, you know my love for finding unique fashion finds! Vienna's a paradise for unique pieces and stylish boutiques! I found myself walking into a small, quirky shop called "Tutu Tango" – and wouldn’t you know it? There, in all its pink glory, sat the most fabulous vintage tutu that would perfectly suit my elegant evening. Oh, darling, imagine a tulle tutu adorned with dainty pastel ribbons and lace – just breathtaking! I just knew this was destined to be my new companion as I waltzed through the charming streets.

But what’s a visit to Vienna without a taste of the sweet delights that this city has to offer? I must tell you about the enchanting tea salon I found tucked away in the heart of the city. I’m not usually one for tea parties, darling, but it just felt perfect with all the pretty vintage furniture. And the scones! Simply divine! Especially when topped with whipped cream and strawberries – it was a true Viennese delight! And just a side note, if you go to the Schönbrunn Palace, don’t forget to have a delicious ice cream from the lovely little coffee cart near the Palace gate! It’s a must-try, especially in the hot afternoon sun.

And, of course, no trip to Vienna would be complete without attending a classical ballet performance. The Vienna State Opera, darling, what an experience! The dancers were utterly graceful, like ethereal beings gliding through the air. And oh, the costumes – such a feast for the eyes! My dear readers, ballet in Vienna is more than a spectacle – it’s a timeless dance of passion, elegance, and artistry. It was pure magic!

To wrap up this week, darling, my Viennese adventure has been a whirlwind of grace and charm. A pink tutu, delicious pastry, and the thrill of ballet - what more could a girl ask for? It truly is a city that fills me with inspiration!

Join me again next Wednesday, when we’ll dive back into my adventures. Who knows where my tutu will take me next week! But one thing’s for sure, darling, I'm here to spread a bit of pink joy, wherever I may travel.

Until next time,

With love and twirls, Emma xx
