Pink Tutu Vienna: Post #195 – Waltz Me Away in Vienna!

Hello lovelies! It's your favourite tutu-clad traveller, Emma, and this week I'm waltzing straight into Vienna, Austria! #PinkTutuVienna is going international, and let me tell you, this city is just as charming as its famous Viennese waltzes. I can already feel the elegance swirling around me, and I'm not just talking about my trusty pink tutu. 😉

This week, we're stepping away from the Derbyshire hills and taking a romantic train ride straight into the heart of European culture. Now, you all know I'm a huge fan of train journeys, the rhythm of the tracks, the fleeting glimpses of landscapes – it's like a mini ballet performance in itself! Plus, nothing quite says "fairytale travel" like chugging through the countryside in a luxurious compartment, sipping on hot chocolate, and writing about my adventures in my trusty pink tutu, of course!

A Tutu in the City of Music

Vienna, my dears, is the ultimate romantic city. Imagine grand palaces with sparkling chandeliers, charming cafes serving decadent cakes, and cobbled streets where every corner holds a new discovery. My pink tutu is practically designed for exploring a city like this, with its graceful twirls and delightful colour. I'm picturing myself twirling in the heart of Schönbrunn Palace, amidst its lush gardens and fountains. Now, that's a real fairytale!

I've already sampled a taste of the city's famed coffee culture. My afternoon was spent indulging in a perfectly crafted "Einspänner" (a double espresso topped with whipped cream – so elegant!), a traditional Viennese treat. This city truly embodies a sense of tradition, and its rich history shines through in every cobbled street and charming cafe.

Dancing Through the Centuries

As you all know, ballet and history are two of my greatest passions. Vienna is a haven for both. I'm absolutely ecstatic to be staying just a stone's throw from the Vienna State Opera, a glorious, historical theatre known for its opulent architecture and world-renowned performances. I’ll be making a pilgrimage to witness a spectacular ballet, naturally wearing my pink tutu (what else?!). And yes, I'm already planning a tutu-themed outfit for the occasion!

And you know me, I'm absolutely fascinated by the history of the tutu itself! This week, I’ve been learning about the Viennese connection to ballet – this city saw the rise of the legendary Johann Strauss II and his beautiful waltzes. It’s a connection I'm excited to delve into deeper! I’ve got my eyes set on exploring the archives of the Vienna State Opera to see if there’s any fascinating history on the ballet costume! Perhaps I'll find some inspiration for my own future tutu designs!

Tutus and Treasures in Vienna

And you know what else I adore about this city? The shopping! It’s an absolute dream come true for a tutu-loving fashionista like me. Vienna's designer boutiques, vintage stores, and local markets are teeming with sartorial delights. From vintage Parisian chic to the latest trends in Austrian fashion, Vienna is a treasure trove for any style lover. I'm determined to find some unique treasures that'll inspire a few more outfits, of course! I’m thinking of finding a fabulous new hat to compliment my pink tutus. And imagine the gorgeous photos I’ll get with the Viennese architecture in the background!

I'll be filling you in on my discoveries next week, but for now, it's back to exploring this city's enchanting corners, catching a show at the Opera, and dreaming up some new outfits for my #PinkTutuVienna adventures.

Keep sparkling, my lovely tutus! And remember, everyone looks fabulous in a pink tutu.
