Pink Tutu Vienna: Post #196 - A Waltz Through Whimsy!
Dearest Tutu Lovers,
This week's Pink Tutu Vienna adventure whisks us away to the magical city of Vienna! As I write this, I can practically hear the lilting melodies of the waltz drifting through the cobblestone streets, and I'm positively brimming with excitement. This is my first trip to Vienna, and it's been a dream of mine to twirl my way through its historic streets since I first discovered the captivating story of Empress Elisabeth of Austria, a renowned ballerina in her own right, whose graceful elegance still echoes through the very fabric of this city.
As always, my darling pink tutu is packed, and I'm ready to take Vienna by storm. The past few weeks have been an absolute whirl! I performed in a dazzling ballet production of "The Nutcracker" back in Derbyshire, where my trusty tutu spun to life under the glow of the stage lights. Not only did the performance receive rave reviews (and, even more importantly, a standing ovation), it also helped fund this delightful Viennese adventure!
Speaking of the glorious world of ballet, you wouldn't believe the incredible selection of ballet history books I stumbled upon during my latest trip to London. From the sumptuous tutus of the French Court to the revolutionary choreography of Diaghilevās Ballets Russes, the ballet world is an endless treasure trove of inspiring stories and beautiful costumes. And of course, I simply had to snag a copy of The Complete History of the Tutu, which will provide me with endless inspiration for future Pink Tutu Vienna adventures!
However, the true highlight of my week was definitely a ballet performance that I saw in a tiny theatre in the heart of Londonās East End. It was called āThe London Ballerinaā and it told the heartwarming story of a young girl who dreamed of becoming a prima ballerina, But this production had an exciting twist. It was a fusion of traditional ballet, tap dancing, and breakdancing! It was simply extraordinary and I must admit that I even shed a happy tear or two.
I confess that as I sit here writing, a certain sparkly new tutu is calling my nameā¦ One that is even more whimsical and sparkly than usual! (Because letās be honest, isn't more always better when it comes to sparkles and tutus? ) So naturally, a quick trip to the Vienna fashion district will be high on my agenda! But first, a little Viennese treat: I have heard whispers of the most heavenly, fluffy chocolate pastries ā a chocolate shop Iāll call my own sweet "tu-tu".
Stay tuned, my dears, as Iām about to embark on a grand Viennese escapade. And please donāt hesitate to join me, in your favourite pink tutu, of course! I'm already planning my daily outfit, a pink, sparkling tutu with a touch of Victorian lace ā after all, the only rule I have is to twirl to my heart's content!
My Viennese Itinerary (so far):
- *Wednesday: * Arrive in Vienna, a little tipsy from my journey! **
- Thursday: A walk through the gardens of Schƶnbrunn Palace. Empress Sisi once called this magnificent palace home, so of course I'm going to do my very best to channel her elegance and poise, even if itās just for a couple of twirls!
- Friday: Visiting the famous Vienna State Opera. My first trip to the Vienna Opera is definitely on my list! My excitement levels are at an all-time high, so keep your eyes peeled for a Pink Tutu Vienna photo of my favourite moments!
- Saturday: Shopping spree! It wouldnāt be a proper trip to Vienna without a visit to the Stadtpark ā Vienna's most stylish fashion district! My Pink Tutu will undoubtedly get a serious upgrade after this, and I canāt wait to see how much my wardrobe blooms.
- Sunday: Coffee and pastries (chocolate, of course!) before I board the train to my next adventure!
Do you have any tips for a first-time visitor to Vienna? And have you been to the Vienna Opera House? Do let me know what you think!
In the meantime, follow me on my pink tutu-filled adventure as I wander through the streets of Vienna and tell you all about it!
See you all next Wednesday for another Pink Tutu Vienna escapade!
Yours truly,
Emma www.pink-tutu.com
