Vienna Whirlwind: Ballet, Bowlers & Bohemian Charm (Blog Post #219)

**Dearest readers,

Greetings from the enchanting city of Vienna!** The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the air is thick with the scent of coffee and pastries ā€“ what more could a girl ask for? This week has been a delightful whirlwind of ballet, fashion, and the most charming sights Vienna has to offer.

I must confess, I've fallen head over heels for this city. Vienna's beauty is simply breathtaking, with its imperial palaces, cobblestone streets, and graceful architecture that makes me feel like I've stepped right into a waltz scene. And itā€™s even more wonderful because Iā€™ve found some fabulous ballet-inspired fashion bargains too!

The Journey There

My journey to Vienna was a delight in itself. Leaving my little Derbyshire cottage and taking the train across the Channel ā€“ a true adventure! It was quite romantic, really, watching the countryside blur by as I enjoyed my tea and a good book. (Though my lovely pink tutu did draw quite a few curious glances!)

I actually made the whole trip more magical by hopping off at the Cologne station for a quick tour of the Kƶlner Dom. Oh my, that Gothic architecture is stunning! It felt like something straight out of a fairytale, and naturally, I took a picture in front of it while wearing my trusty pink tutu for a touch of whimsy!

Ballet Magic in Vienna

Speaking of magic, the highlight of this week was the chance to see the world-renowned Vienna State Opera House. The grandeur of the place simply took my breath away! I mean, this place has hosted some of the greatest names in ballet history ā€“ Anna Pavlova, Rudolf Nureyev ā€“ and here I was, a tiny ballerina in my pink tutu, taking it all in.

The performance was simply divine ā€“ ā€œGiselleā€ with a spectacular performance by a rising ballerina who captivated the audience. Iā€™m thinking of attempting some of those moves when Iā€™m back in the studio ā€“ we shall see if I can channel the grace of a ballerina who actually knows what sheā€™s doing!

But the excitement didnā€™t stop there. Iā€™ve been attending daily ballet classes at the Vienna Ballet Academy, which is a delight. These classes are incredibly intensive, pushing me to refine my technique and even try some new moves. The teachers here are excellent ā€“ so much passion for ballet! Itā€™s inspirational!

A Touch of Glamour

Naturally, a girl's gotta shop when she's in a city as glamorous as Vienna! And my dear readers, let me tell you, this city is a shopper's paradise! Iā€™ve found so many cute boutiques with vintage fashion treasures and shops with stunningly detailed costumes for the stage ā€“ definitely some inspiration for my own ballerina wardrobe. I am obsessed with a black velvet hat trimmed with a feather, and some gorgeous gold jewelry that really compliments my tutu. (Itā€™s going straight on my wish list for my next performance!)

The Food and Drinkā€¦ Oh, My!

Let's talk about the food! I've been indulging in all sorts of Viennese delicacies ā€“ the best Apfelstrudel Iā€™ve ever had (and believe me, I've tasted my fair share), Schnitzel (delicious!), and the most exquisite Sacher Torte I could possibly imagine ā€“ a pure chocolatey delight! And then, there's the coffee! The coffee culture in Vienna is phenomenal! A simple coffee break in a Viennese cafe with a charming waiter brings you right into the atmosphere.

Charming Streets and a Waltz in the Park

Exploring the streets of Vienna is an absolute treat! Each corner holds a surprise - from the magnificent Schƶnbrunn Palace and the Belvedere to the intricate details of the Stephansdom and the captivating Kunsthistorisches Museum. The charming architecture, bustling cafƩs, and even the cobblestones under my feet add to the sense of enchantment.

Last night, I decided to be truly adventurous. I wandered through the Stadtpark, marveling at the beautiful gardens and admiring the impressive statues. Feeling quite inspired, I spun a few times around in my pink tutu while the moonlight painted the scene silver. You wouldnā€™t believe how many people clapped! It seems the magic of a pink tutu can truly charm everyone.

Horse and Carriage Adventures

Of course, no trip to Vienna is complete without a horse and carriage ride through the streets. I have to say, riding through the city with the clip-clop of horsesā€™ hooves was like travelling through a fairytale. The old world charm and the romantic scenery made me feel like a princess on a magical adventure. It was especially perfect because I chose a white horse. And the carriage itself was so beautiful. I almost didnā€™t want to get out.

Sharing the Joy of Pink Tutus

You know, itā€™s fascinating, these travels to all these magical places in my pink tutu. Seeing the smiles on childrenā€™s faces as they catch a glimpse of the colour and movement makes me happy. Iā€™ve had several people comment on my style this week and have even handed out some pink tutu pins I keep in my handbag for my own little fashion revolution! Hopefully, it inspires someone else to take on a challenge, to bring some colour to the world and maybe even find a touch of whimsy within themselves.

My Viennese Adventures Continue

Oh my, dear readers, this city is absolutely charming! I havenā€™t even had time to see all the amazing sights I have planned! But donā€™t you worry, Iā€™ll be back next week to share even more of Vienna's magic, with the colourful, charming, enchanting pink tutu as my constant companion. Until then, keep twirling, stay joyful, and never stop chasing your dreams.

Lots of love and twirls,

Emma
