Vienna, Vienna, Where Have You Been? (Post #234)
Dearest Tutu-Lovers,
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another instalment of your favourite Pink Tutu blog! This week, I'm whisking you away to the magnificent city of Vienna, Austria, a city that embodies everything that makes me happy: history, culture, and of course, stunning fashion.
As always, I journeyed to Vienna in the most magical way - by train! The journey was breathtakingly picturesque, rolling hills dotted with vineyards, ancient castles peeking out from behind leafy forests, and sleepy villages bustling with life. It’s this charming combination of classic elegance and fairytale wonder that I simply adore about Europe.
Speaking of elegance, the city of Vienna truly lives up to its reputation as the “City of Music.” I felt like I was walking through a grand opera set, with its grand squares, imperial palaces, and, of course, the legendary Vienna State Opera House.
A Ballet Lover's Paradise
For any ballerina at heart, Vienna is a true wonderland! It’s the birthplace of some of the most legendary ballets, including “The Sleeping Beauty” and “Swan Lake” – the heartstrings of every tutu-wearing enthusiast! I spent hours wandering through the beautiful Vienna State Opera House, soaking up the history and imagining all the magical performances that had taken place within those walls.
Even my daily ballet class was something special this week. It was held in a historic dance studio, tucked away in a beautiful courtyard - a touch of vintage elegance that made my ballet shoes practically skip across the floor!
Tutu Twirls through History
Of course, no visit to Vienna would be complete without a visit to the Schönbrunn Palace! The lavish gardens were simply divine – perfect for a romantic promenade in my signature pink tutu! I was enchanted by the ornate fountains and the grand, symmetrical architecture. But the pièce de résistance? A museum dedicated to the history of the waltz – can you imagine?
The waltz, as everyone knows, is a dance synonymous with romantic grace and elegant swirling. The history of the waltz is fascinating! It originated in the late 18th century, and it was initially considered shockingly provocative for its time - how scandalous to be twirling with your partner, hands linked! Fast forward a couple of centuries and, well, here we are - in Vienna, the capital of the waltz. It seems society has embraced the magic of swirling and twirling, and it feels lovely to know that a dance I adore has so much history woven into it.
Vienna Fashion - A Chic Journey
Of course, fashion is always front of mind in my travels! This week, I explored Vienna's chic boutiques and vintage shops, hunting down unique and stylish treasures. One particular shop on a quiet cobblestone street blew me away – they had the most amazing vintage tutus, a veritable feast for the senses. One of them - a fluffy pale pink tulle number with delicate lace details – even tempted me to make a spontaneous purchase. (Let’s just say it didn’t quite fit my suitcase though!) I do, however, have a lovely pair of delicate vintage gloves - a truly chic touch!
Oh, Vienna, What A Treat!
This week has been an absolute whirlwind of enchantment. Every cobblestone street, every baroque church, every traditional café, even the smell of freshly baked strudel - everything here seems to be wrapped in a veil of fairytale magic! Vienna truly does embody the ultimate feminine ideal – elegance, grace, and a timeless, romantic beauty.
So, until next week, my lovelies! Keep dancing, keep sparkling, and always remember to bring a little bit of Pink Tutu magic to your world!
With all my love, Emma
