Vienna Calling! (Post #235) - Adventures in a Pink Tutu, Darling!

Well hello darlings! It’s your favourite pink-tutu-wearing ballerina, Emma, checking in from Vienna, the city of waltzes, Strauss, and…wait for it…Tutus! 🩰 Yes, Vienna, a city synonymous with culture and grace, has proven to be a true paradise for a ballerina like myself! This week, darling, is all about my Viennese ballet adventures. Buckle up your tap shoes, put on your finest pink ensemble, and get ready for a whirlwind of tulle and twirls!

I’ve been absolutely mesmerized by this city! Vienna is a breathtaking mix of the opulent and the historical. Imagine cobbled streets leading you to grand buildings, all adorned with elegant flourishes and graceful lines. It’s a city that truly whispers of grandeur and artistic beauty.

My journey to Vienna started, of course, in the most whimsical way imaginable - a train ride! I'm utterly smitten with the elegance of European trains. Something about their sleek design and the click-clack of the wheels on the tracks sets my inner ballerina swaying.

Now, onto the real star of this week – the Viennese Ballet. I had the pleasure of attending a stunning performance at the magnificent Vienna State Opera. Honestly, the moment I entered that magnificent building, my heart soared! The grandeur of the theatre, with its sweeping balconies, ornate chandeliers, and plush velvet seats, was a true delight.

The performance itself was a breathtaking blend of classical and contemporary. The dancers, their movements so fluid and graceful, effortlessly swept me away into a world of emotion and fantasy. It was as if they were channeling the very essence of Vienna – a city alive with passion, artistry, and elegance.

After the performance, I popped into the stunning ‘Vienna Hofburg Imperial Apartments’. Oh, it’s absolutely fabulous darling. A grand tour through history. Each room was more incredible than the next. Can you imagine dining in that stunning grand hall where waltzes once danced!

But my trip wouldn't be complete without some retail therapy! Now, darling, you know how much I love fashion, especially all things pink. So, of course, I went shopping! Vienna is a haven for boutiques showcasing everything from the most sophisticated European labels to quirky vintage pieces. My wardrobe is already boasting some wonderful new additions – a pink silk scarf from a charming shop tucked away in a narrow street, and a delicate antique locket shaped like a dancing ballerina, from a tiny shop in a hidden corner of the city. Isn’t that delightful?

But don’t worry darling, it's not all about spending, there’s plenty of exploring and soaking up the culture of Vienna to do too. The Schönbrunn Palace is something that should be seen, not to mention the fabulous gardens and Vienna Zoo.

After my waltz around the capital, it was time for some nature! As you know darling, I’m completely enamoured by horses. I recently made a friend - a horse trainer named Friedrich, he helped me find the perfect place for a day's riding. We rode in a fabulous Vienna Forest. Honestly, I felt like a character from one of those romantic horse riding novels - the wind in my hair, the horses hooves dancing over the earth! What a perfect way to round off my trip to the Austrian capital!

Before I go, I have to tell you about the city's delicious pastries, which are the perfect reward for a day spent exploring the city! They are unbelievably divine – a light, airy treat filled with a creamy custard centre or a tangy raspberry jam, covered with a sugary glaze. My mouth is watering just thinking about them.

Now, darling, as always, I'm eager to know what you’ve been up to this week. Tell me all about your fashionable finds, your ballet adventures, and anything that's captured your fancy.

Until next Wednesday darling,

Emma
