Pink Tutu Vienna: Post #242 - A Whirlwind of Waltz and Wiener Schnitzel!

Guten Tag, darlings!

Well, here I am again, in the beautiful city of Vienna, ready to tell you all about my whirlwind adventures! It's been a week of ballet, schnitzel, and everything in between, and I'm bursting at the seams to share it with you!

As you know, dear readers, I always make a point of seeing a ballet show whenever I visit a new city. It’s almost like a pilgrimage for a girl in a tutu! And Vienna, with its rich history of ballet, was simply irresistible. This week, I saw a stunning production of "Giselle" at the Vienna State Opera. My, oh my! The sheer talent of the dancers, the breathtaking choreography, the beautifully executed pirouettes and fouettés… it was simply divine! And the music, the beautiful, stirring music of the waltz, made my heart skip a beat!

Of course, no trip to Vienna is complete without indulging in the local cuisine. Now, I have to confess, my heart belonged to the Wiener Schnitzel – the crispy, thin, tender breaded cutlet, served with a mountain of fluffy potato salad, it was an absolute triumph! After that, I simply had to see if it could be topped, and headed to the legendary Sacher Hotel for a piece of their famous Sacher Torte! Honestly, that was a whole other level of deliciousness, and I must admit, it gave the Schnitzel a run for its money!

Fashion finds in the city of waltzes!

Let's talk fashion, my dear readers, shall we? Because Vienna was simply overflowing with inspiration. From the elegant shops lining the Kärntner Strasse to the vintage boutiques in the Old City, there were endless opportunities to find the perfect little piece to add to my wardrobe.

The vintage shops in the cobbled backstreets were a true joy to explore! One beautiful find was a stunning blush pink feather boa that reminded me of all the fabulous ballerinas I saw in my favourite old ballet posters back in my hometown of Derbyshire. And who could resist a little vintage hat? This week, I'm falling head over heels for a playful, black and white straw number with a giant pink ribbon!

But it's not all about high fashion, darling! Vienna truly has a charm that you just can't deny. Whether it’s taking a stroll through the magnificent Schönbrunn Palace, watching the changing of the guards at the Hofburg Palace, or simply people-watching from a quaint café while enjoying a cup of Wiener Melange, there's a certain Parisian elegance to Vienna's everyday life.

A ballet and tutu lover's dream

This city, darlings, it's not just about the architecture and the coffee, it's about the people too. They have a warmth and a gentleness about them that you simply can’t find in many other places, which is why I am planning to extend my stay for another week, perhaps two!

And who knows what adventures await! Perhaps a dance class, a visit to the famous Burgtheater (famous for ballet performances as well as drama), or maybe I’ll even find another fabulous pink tutu or two… Oh, the possibilities are simply endless!

So until next time, darlings, stay fabulous and don’t forget to wear pink!

Your faithful ballerina, Emma.
