Vienna Waltz in a Pink Tutu: Post #253

Hello my darlings! It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another fabulous Pink Tutu Vienna blog post! I’m writing to you from a charming cafe in the heart of Vienna, my heart brimming with excitement after a whirlwind weekend filled with culture, ballet, and of course, plenty of pink.

Journey to Vienna by Rail:

This week’s adventure began with a magical train journey from Derbyshire, England. I love the romance of train travel - the click-clack of the wheels, the views gliding past the window, and the opportunity to slip into a whimsical world of books and daydreams. Wearing my new pink silk scarf and a vintage pink cardigan, I felt every bit the travelling ballerina. Of course, no train journey is complete without a delicious afternoon tea.

The Vienna Opera: A Magical Night

Upon arrival in Vienna, I was instantly captivated by the city’s graceful architecture and charming cobblestone streets. But nothing could prepare me for the magic that awaited at the Vienna State Opera. I managed to snag tickets for a performance of “Swan Lake,” and let me tell you, it was utterly spellbinding. I was swept away by the exquisite music, the powerful choreography, and the grace of the dancers. I found myself swept up in the emotions of the ballet - tears welling up during the tragic swan sequence, and pure joy in the joyful pas de deux. It was the perfect combination of ballet artistry and visual spectacle.

Vienna's Ballerina Roots

Speaking of ballerinas, did you know Vienna has a long and illustrious ballet history? It's renowned as one of the birthplaces of ballet, boasting renowned academies and inspiring venues. It's simply brimming with ballerina energy! During my exploration, I discovered a delightful little museum dedicated to the history of Viennese ballet. They have the most beautiful costumes, original dance notes, and fascinating old posters. I was even allowed to try on a pair of pointe shoes - let me tell you, it takes a lot of strength and grace to dance on those!

Shopping for the Pinkest Tutu

No visit to Vienna is complete without a little indulgence, so naturally, I had to find the most fabulous tutu for my collection! I ventured to the bustling Naschmarkt, where I found the perfect shop tucked away amongst the colourful stalls. It was full of vintage and new clothing - perfect for a tutu-loving girl like me! I discovered a vintage pink tutu with lace detailing - oh, the tulle was so soft! I’ve decided I shall wear it on the next waltz evening at my ballet class.

Tutu-licious Food Adventures:

Speaking of food, Vienna has a real flair for the dramatic when it comes to cakes and pastries. It’s a treat lover’s paradise! From Sachertorte, Vienna’s famous chocolate cake, to Apfelstrudel, their delicious apple strudel - I've been sampling all the sweet treats. I even managed to sneak in a delightful afternoon tea at the Hotel Sacher - my favourite, a warm scones with a scoop of raspberry jam and a pot of creamy Earl Grey. I must admit, a little sugar helps me spin that little bit higher in ballet class.

Vienna on Horseback:

This city isn't all waltz and strudel! A horse drawn carriage ride was a must. We clip-clopped around the charming, cobbled streets, a gentle sway reminding me of my ballerina movements, the beautiful buildings gliding past. The smell of horse and the tinkle of the bells transported me back to a time of regal elegance, reminding me how beautiful Vienna truly is.

Until Next Wednesday:

And that, my lovelies, is just a glimpse into my fabulous weekend in Vienna. It’s a city that truly stole my heart with its cultural vibrancy and its infectious energy. I am filled with so much inspiration that I could write a whole book about it!

Join me next week for more pink-tastic adventures from the enchanting city of Vienna, where we’ll explore its ballet traditions and discover some truly spectacular fashion. Until then, remember to embrace your inner ballerina, and don't be afraid to let your pink tutu shine!

And remember, if you haven't started wearing pink tutus yet, it's time to embrace the fun and spread the pink tutu love!

Yours truly,

Emma
