Vienna Calling! A Pink Tutu Takes On The Waltz Capital (Post #267)

Hello my lovelies!

It's Emma here, back from the whirlwind of a week in the majestic city of Vienna! This Wednesday, my pink tutu and I are ready to waltz into a world of waltzing music, delectable cakes, and enough history to make your head spin.

But before I get lost in the enchanting charm of this beautiful city, let's recap! It's been a journey full of adventure and ballet magic. As always, I'm funded by my ballet performances – every pirouette, every arabesque is a ticket to a new experience! I’m absolutely living my dream life!

Derbyshire To Vienna - A Tutu's Grand Tour!

As a Derbyshire lass, the thought of visiting Vienna had been floating around in my mind for years. The grand waltz halls, the majestic architecture, the history – Vienna whispered to my soul! This time, however, my travel plans were unique!

A whirlwind of travel from Derbyshire to Vienna is not for the faint of heart, but thankfully I discovered an enchanting mode of transportation that I just couldn't resist - the train!

I believe there's an elegance to travelling by train. There's something almost poetic about gliding through the countryside, watching the world unfold in a kaleidoscope of changing landscapes. And, of course, my trusty pink tutu could perfectly express my travelling fashion!

A luxurious velvet pouch housed my essentials - the essentials that are indispensable to a ballerina: hairbrush, bobby pins, a touch-up mirror for those last minute dance-floor adjustments, and of course, a pink lipstick!

The Magic Of Vienna

Oh Vienna! You stole my heart with your cobblestone streets and majestic squares. Every corner held a history lesson waiting to unfold. From the grand Schönbrunn Palace to the iconic Stephansdom cathedral, this city sings of imperial grandeur and cultural richness!

Every step felt like a ballet. Every cafe became my personal stage, where I twirled and dreamed. Vienna simply demands you to indulge in its sweet treats – and believe me, I indulged with gusto! The iconic Sacher-Torte is an absolute must-try. Imagine decadent chocolate and apricot filling nestled within a rich chocolate sponge!

Oh, I couldn't forget the divine Viennese coffee! It’s a luxurious treat - just what the doctor ordered after a long day of exploring the city! And let's be honest - everything is better enjoyed with a hot beverage in hand - particularly in my favourite pink tutu.

The Vienna Opera - A Ballerina’s Dream

No trip to Vienna would be complete without an evening at the magnificent Vienna State Opera! To experience this grand institution in all its glory – with its impressive chandeliers and breathtaking acoustics – felt like stepping into a fairy tale. The air shimmered with an undeniable excitement. It was almost palpable!

And the ballet? Absolutely magical! The costumes were exquisite! I adored their elaborate design - their colour choices were beautiful! And then, of course, the dancers! Their elegance and fluidity took my breath away, sending me soaring high into my own personal dance dreams! I’ve always been drawn to the way ballet dancers tell stories without uttering a single word - simply by moving. The expressive nature of ballet draws me in, every time!

I confess, my tutu might not have been the most appropriate attire for the grand halls of the Opera, but that didn’t deter my dancing soul. You could even say, the grand staircase became my makeshift stage!

Vienna Ballet History - A tutu love story

Every time I visit a new city, I am instantly drawn to its ballet history. And Vienna? Well, Vienna has a truly rich, illustrious ballet history. From the elegant courts of emperors to the opulent stages of opera houses, ballet has been a vibrant force in this city.

One thing that impressed me, though, was how much Vienna embraces its dance history. It's a place that celebrates the legacy of ballerinas past and present. In my explorations, I found myself walking down the very streets where ballet legends waltzed!

Oh, speaking of tutu history! I couldn't leave Vienna without paying a visit to their ballet archive. Imagine the collection of tutus housed there - a kaleidoscope of designs, materials, and periods. Oh, the stories that those tutus could tell! I just had to touch them!

Viennese Fashion

Every ballerina, even the ones wearing tutus, loves clothes shopping! And Vienna? Well, it’s a haven for fashion lovers! From high-end boutiques to quirky vintage shops, I went on a shopping spree - my pink tutu was quite the attraction! I've picked up a pair of gorgeous ballerina flats in pale pink, perfect for all those waltzing moments, a vibrant scarf to tie into a bow for my ballet bun, and some beautiful pearl earrings to match my dancing outfits!

But, more importantly, Vienna's fashion is as unique as its history. From chic cafes to buzzing street corners, there’s an aura of style. And even as a ballerina who often leans towards the glamorous and frilly, the simplicity and classic elegance of Viennese fashion really spoke to me. I picked up a black and white patterned dress, perfectly suitable for a romantic afternoon picnic, a vintage-inspired polka dot top, and an emerald green skirt - just the perfect touch for my Parisian ballet themed outfits!

I even went shopping at a delightful store where they were selling tutu skirts - that was simply irresistible for a ballerina! They even had an impressive collection of colourful and frilly headbands - oh how I loved that!

Pink Tutu Vienna - What's on today?

It's 14 June 2000 - which means there are exciting performances to attend! Today I'll be seeing an amazing Ballet performance at the Palais Liechtenstein - which will be followed by an enchanting performance of the ballet, "Giselle". And after all that dancing?

Oh, tonight I’m heading to the Wiener Staatsoper, the iconic opera house that is a must-see for any visitor to Vienna, to enjoy a night of classical music with the Vienna Philharmonic! It will be simply exquisite! And the beauty of it is - that you don't even need a fancy outfit. But, I know, my tutu just calls to me - especially on special nights like these. And my favourite bright pink clutch bag is ready to be my dancing partner!
