Pink Tutu Vienna: Post #275 – Waltz in the Wurstelprater

Hello my darlings! Emma here, back from my whirlwind tour of Vienna with my trusty pink tutu in tow, of course! I simply had to share all the delights of this magical city with you, so grab a cuppa, settle in, and prepare for a trip to the land of waltzes, Sachertorte, and… well, let's be honest, more tutus than you can shake a feather boa at! 😉

The Journey Begins!

Now, you know me, I love a good train journey. There’s something so wonderfully romantic about watching the scenery whizz past from my window seat, wearing a perfectly pink tutu, of course. I must say, the European trains didn’t disappoint, they’re simply fabulous! My comfy first-class compartment was the perfect place to plot my Vienna adventures and dream of all the ballet performances I was going to see. I even got a glimpse of the snow-capped Alps – just a magical prelude to my Austrian escapades!

Arrival in Vienna

Stepping off the train into Vienna felt like stepping into a fairytale. It's like something out of a Mozart opera – the cobbled streets, the majestic architecture, and the air filled with the delicious scent of pastries. Vienna simply has that certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ that I adore!

Fashion, Darling, Fashion!

The first order of business – SHOPPING! This is Vienna, and that means high fashion, darling. I went straight to the famous department stores on Kärntner Strasse. My darling, the clothes! My tutu had its own personal outfit change in the fitting rooms as I explored the latest collections – delicate silks, elegant lace, and…of course…an abundance of PINK! Vienna clearly understands the power of a pink tutu. You just cannot underestimate its ability to make any outfit sparkle. It is, of course, essential for every fashionista's wardrobe!

A Bite of Vienna

Now, no visit to Vienna is complete without indulging in their world-famous food! Sachertorte was a definite must-try. This chocolate cake, filled with apricot jam and topped with a smooth chocolate glaze, was truly divine! I also tried Wiener Schnitzel (my heavens, the breading!) and all manner of Viennese delicacies. I confess, I also bought a miniature Sachertorte to take home for tea, for I am an avid gourmand and can never resist a tasty treat!

Ballet Bliss

As you know, my true love is ballet, and Vienna is a paradise for ballerinas! I spent a few evenings at the Vienna State Opera, enjoying the magical world of ballet in its finest form. I even attended a class at the prestigious Vienna State Ballet Academy. Oh, the grace and precision of the dancers, a truly breathtaking spectacle! I was particularly charmed by a performance of 'Giselle' at the Burgtheater. And you won't believe it – I even had the pleasure of meeting a few of the dancers after the show. Such charming young ladies, just full of life and talent. We even chatted about tutus, naturally! I'm still basking in the glow of their smiles and their inspiring stories!

The Viennese Waltz: Time for a Tutu Twirl!

There was one activity I couldn’t resist while in Vienna – learning to waltz! I donned my favourite pink tutu and joined a delightful group lesson in the Hofburg Palace gardens. The waltz was so graceful and romantic, and, oh, what a delight to pirouette amongst the elegant gardens, feeling every step! It truly made me feel like a princess out of a Viennese fairytale!

Wurstelprater Park – Fun for All!

One of my favourite things to do in any new city is to explore the local parks. Vienna’s Wurstelprater was a delightful surprise. Think amusement park rides, carousel horses, Ferris wheel, and stalls of all kinds – a pure joy! It was an experience right out of a children's story. You wouldn't believe the tutus that were on display – everything from bright neon pink to a classic pale pink satin! There’s nothing that brightens up a day in the park quite like a pink tutu!

Vienna: A Pink Tutu Dream

This journey to Vienna truly has been a dream come true! The city is captivating with its beautiful architecture, delightful people, delicious food, and amazing ballet shows.

My pink tutu felt perfectly at home here, twirling amongst the waltzing crowds, swirling on carousel rides, and prancing through charming parks. Vienna, you stole my heart. And as always, I'm so grateful to all my darling readers for joining me on my adventures. Until next time!

Love always,
