Vienna Waltz in Pink, Post #276: The City of Music and Magic
Dearest Pink Tutu Posse,
This week finds me waltzing through the glorious city of Vienna! Oh, it is so good to be back in Austria, my heart has been longing for the swirling waltz rhythms and the delicious aroma of Sachertorte since my last visit.
It's Wednesday, which means a brand new Pink Tutu Vienna blog post for you, darling! And let me tell you, this trip is a total dream, packed with ballet performances, exquisite fashion finds, and of course, some major pink tutu moments.
My journey began in good old Derbyshire, with a lovely train journey through the English countryside. I find there's nothing quite like a train journey to get my creative juices flowing - I can’t resist jotting down blog ideas, sketching new tutu designs and daydreaming about all the adventures to come. I'd decided to leave my car behind on this trip, feeling the need to embrace a more elegant form of transport – my horse, Caramel! I can’t bear to leave my precious Caramel behind for too long. He took me to the local station where I waved goodbye to my lovely Mum and she set off back to our lovely Derbyshire village and home, which was bittersweet. But then there’s Vienna, the glorious waltzing city. So the goodbye was tinged with delight and adventure!
Speaking of adventure, did I tell you that my trip was inspired by an utterly gorgeous, blush pink tutu I found on a whim in a little boutique in my hometown? It’s made of the most delicate, billowing tulle, and it’s begging to twirl under Vienna's iconic golden glow. It’s like something straight out of a Strauss opera. This is how you know that this trip has been destined since the beginning.
A Pink Tutu Waltz through Vienna’s Opulent Past:
Vienna itself is a sight to behold, even for this seasoned traveller! It’s like stepping straight into a ballet set. Grand, imposing buildings, ornate details, a river running through the heart of it – I could spend days just wandering the cobblestone streets, soaking in the romantic atmosphere. And let’s be honest, this outfit calls for romantic strolls! It’s got the twirling factor down, it’s totally graceful, and with its sheer and dreamy nature, I feel like I’m walking straight into a fairytale.
Today, I felt compelled to indulge my passion for history by visiting the Schönbrunn Palace. Oh, the beauty! The gilded rooms, the magnificent gardens, the haunting whispers of emperors and empresses past – I could practically see a royal waltz happening right before my eyes. I have to say, the sheer opulence of the Palace had my own senses twirling. The sheer magnificence, and of course, the stories contained within those elegant walls! But it is a good thing the cafe is there, or I fear my head would have literally exploded! I opted for an elegant, light pink iced coffee to get me back to ground level after all of that exquisite majesty! It went down beautifully, as I sat back and dreamed of the imperial dances of the past.
Of course, no trip to Vienna would be complete without visiting the Vienna State Opera. The sheer history of ballet and opera contained within its walls, the sheer genius! They say it’s where opera and ballet were brought to their peak. To step into the auditorium was breathtaking, such ornate interiors, it's all about luxury and grandeur, and my oh my, I simply adore such opulent opulence! The building has seen history in action! And tonight’s performance is Swan Lake! It's an absolutely iconic ballet - what’s not to love?! I can’t wait to see those iconic white tutus glide across the stage. I’m planning on dressing to impress tonight. Think, floor length tulle in a soft blush pink – my tutu will stand out from the crowd, a gentle nod to my ballet passion, with its elegance and refined design! This city really inspires.
Finding My Tutu Magic
Now, my dear fellow fashionistas, let’s talk fashion! I cannot leave Vienna without finding some fabulous new additions for my tutu collection. I found the perfect spot: a little boutique on a quaint side street, tucked away behind a cluster of charming cafes and flower stalls. I absolutely love finding hidden gems like this, because it makes the excitement even more magical. This particular boutique has an excellent selection of both classic and contemporary tutus – just imagine: all shades of pink, shimmery sequined delights and those classic ballet white tutus – every design was an absolute masterpiece! And when it comes to picking my perfect piece, there's no need to think about it. The answer was loud and clear – a vintage pale pink tutu that perfectly echoed the soft femininity of my favourite pale pink gown. It has this romantic air that practically screams Vienna. The intricate detailing around the bodice - so elegant, so whimsical. I'm hoping to create my own ballerina masterpiece on my next ballet show with it!
And let’s not forget, it wouldn’t be Vienna without an exquisite array of cafes. There is so much to explore in Vienna and the sheer indulgence on offer has been just phenomenal. As I sat and sipped on a delightful hot chocolate in a Viennese cafe earlier today, I noticed a woman in a beautiful dress adorned with intricate lace. It reminded me of a beautiful, pastel shade of pink. And as I took a moment to appreciate her effortless elegance, I found myself pondering my own vision for fashion. Why not blend that classic Austrian grace with a dash of Pink Tutu magic?
* Spreading Pink Tutu Joy*
And that, my dear readers, brings me to the true essence of this adventure – spreading the Pink Tutu love! I think it’s time for some good old fashioned fun. My mission: to bring a little pink tutu cheer to the beautiful streets of Vienna. So, watch out for a flurry of pink tulle, laughter, and happy smiles! We’ll be doing some creative, imaginative activities, as you do! Just be on the look out for a flurry of tulle and some amazing music. I’m going to start at the Schönbrunn Palace with some impromptu twirls. Why not create a memory and a lovely dance at this majestic sight? There's something incredibly freeing and joyous about wearing a tutu. And after the waltz at the palace? The park will be in full swing of fun and creative Pink Tutu inspired action. And then the most incredible surprise of all, I’m planning to stage a little pink tutu ballet flash mob! Just imagine the beauty of a Viennese square filled with pink tutus and twirling silhouettes – a burst of pure colour and energy! It will certainly make Vienna’s iconic architecture and baroque beauty even more magical. And if you’re in Vienna and happen to be watching a random impromptu ballet flash mob on the 17th August, give a wave – you might be standing next to a true Pink Tutu warrior.
