Vienna, my dears, Vienna! 🩰💖

Well, hello darlings! It’s your favourite tutu-wearing traveller, Emma, and it’s Wednesday which means it’s time for a new post on Pink Tutu Vienna, my little corner of the internet dedicated to all things pink, frilly, and fabulous!

This week, we’re in the magnificent city of Vienna, Austria! And let me tell you, it’s been a whirl of waltzes, beautiful buildings, and… wait for it… even more pink than usual! Yes, even I have been outdone in the pink department! But more on that later, let’s chat about the journey!

A Whirlwind Train Ride Through Europe

Last week, I left my beloved Derbyshire with a heavy heart but a suitcase full of gorgeous pink dresses, because, as every girl knows, one can never have too many pink dresses. My destination: the heart of Europe! I bid farewell to the green fields and quaint villages and boarded the train to Vienna. You see, darlings, a journey is as much part of the adventure as the destination itself. It’s not about getting there as quickly as possible, it’s about the delightful moments in between.

The train was an absolute delight – the perfect place to catch up on my latest novel, write some entries for my blog (I can never have enough time to share all my exciting adventures with you!), and enjoy the ever-changing landscapes. We zoomed through rolling green hills, quaint towns, and even saw the magnificent Rhine River glistening under the midday sun!

But the real highlight of the journey, my dears, was meeting my new friend, Henri. Now, I know what you’re thinking… another man in love with my tutu-clad style? Absolutely! Henri was a charming young Parisian artist (aren’t the French so elegant!), who also happened to be a travelling violinist. Imagine my delight! We spent the train journey comparing notes on our passions for the arts, the beauty of travel, and… of course… all things pink. I even convinced him to wear a little pink ribbon on his violin case, just for a bit of colour! It really completed his outfit.

The City of Music & Dreams 🎶

We finally arrived in Vienna and the sheer majesty of it all left me speechless! The city feels like it was lifted straight from a fairy tale – cobblestone streets, grand palaces, and a buzzing atmosphere full of music and laughter. I already knew I was in love! Vienna is the birthplace of Mozart, Beethoven, Strauss, and countless other musical legends, and it shows!

A Ballet Bonanza at the Vienna State Opera 🩰

I wouldn’t be a true pink-tutu wearing ballerina if I didn’t go to see a ballet show! Vienna is famed for its ballet and opera performances, and of course I had to see for myself! Imagine, my dears, my excitement when I discovered the Vienna State Opera had Giselle on this evening.

Stepping into the building, my breath caught! I was awestruck by the elaborate chandeliers, the golden gilded details, the velvet seats… It truly felt like a royal theatre. And the performance! The ballerinas were simply stunning in their graceful movements, and the music… it filled me with emotion!

I particularly loved the way they brought Giselle's story to life. Giselle, as you know, is the innocent, romantic young village girl who falls in love with a disguised prince, Albrecht. But when she learns the truth, her heartbreak is overwhelming and she dances herself to death, becoming a wilis, a ghostly ballerina who leads other men to their doom! Oh my dears, the choreography was so emotive, you could feel the tragedy of the story throughout the entire theater!

After the show, I made my way into the city’s heart, St. Stephen’s Square. There’s nothing like a little bit of Viennese street music to complete the evening. I wandered around the beautiful square, watching buskers perform, their melodies swirling in the crisp evening air. The atmosphere was magical, my dears! Just thinking about it brings back the wonderful memories.

The Majesty of Schönbrunn Palace

Today was all about taking in the sights! After a leisurely breakfast filled with delicious pastries (one cannot visit Vienna without trying a Sachertorte!), I decided to head to Schönbrunn Palace. It's the former summer residence of the Habsburg dynasty and wow! It was grand! It's said to be one of the most impressive palaces in the world, and I completely understand why. I was so impressed by the elegant Baroque architecture, the intricate gardens, and the museum exhibitions about the palace’s fascinating history.

It really is a journey through time, and the highlight of my day was visiting the stunning Great Hall. It's filled with beautiful artwork and exhibits, and it felt like stepping straight into the pages of a history book.

Later, I took a stroll through the gorgeous palace gardens. The palace itself was magnificent, but I loved the peaceful ambiance of the gardens. The greenery was perfectly manicured, with fragrant flowers and ancient trees everywhere.

But then, just when I thought my day couldn’t get any more special… a carriage ride! A gentle trotting of horses led me through the palace gardens. You see, it’s just so lovely to slow down and embrace the elegance of the old world.

Vienna’s Fascinating Fashion 🛍️

Vienna, as a centre for both culture and the arts, naturally has a wonderful fashion scene! I was absolutely smitten with the city’s elegant boutiques, bustling markets, and even found myself picking up some pretty little souvenirs, which of course included pink! (Pink is always a good souvenir idea.)

I am just loving my time here, my dears! I feel a connection to the city's vibrant energy, its beauty, and the incredible fashion and cultural experiences! My heart, filled with inspiration, already dreams of returning to Vienna. There is so much more to discover and share with you!

And don't forget, darlings, every day is an opportunity to wear pink! I'm wearing my newest pink tulle skirt paired with a crisp white blouse. So, go on, spread the pink!

Until next week,

Your Emma!
