Vienna, Waltz Away in a Pink Tutu! #PinkTutuVienna

#349

Oh, my darlings! This week, Vienna has taken my breath away – not just because of the stunning architecture and history (which, let’s be honest, is phenomenal!), but because of the absolute whirlwind of waltzing, twirling, and, you guessed it, pink tutus! It seems that this city is the epitome of elegance and grace, and I just had to share it all with you!

As always, dear readers, this week’s adventures began with my weekly ballet class, held in a beautiful studio with an old-world charm. They don’t just have a barre in this class, they have a magnificent old fashioned ballet barre complete with handpainted decorations! I wore my new, dusty rose tulle tutu – the shade just screams Vienna! – and I truly felt like a princess transported back in time. After an hour of pliés and pirouettes, I popped into a cafe across the road, and what did I spy on the menu? Wiener Schnitzel! How could I resist?

Vienna’s culinary scene is truly a delight – just as glamorous as the city itself! This city’s famous schnitzels (thinly breaded and fried cutlets, for any unfamiliar darlings!) were a delectable treat, served with potatoes and salad – heaven! Later, I indulged in a delicious slice of Sachertorte (Vienna’s famous chocolate cake – I know, it’s getting a bit rich, isn’t it?) which was an absolute revelation!

But Vienna’s allure isn’t all about culinary delights! The city is practically bursting with culture and art, and I couldn’t wait to see it all! This week’s highlight was, of course, the magnificent Vienna State Opera. You know how I feel about those grandiose, old-school opera houses, darlings. It's always a delight to see all the grandeur, the opulent décor, and the swirling chandeliers! I even spotted a fellow pink-tutu-lover sitting in the front row!

Tutus Throughout History

Speaking of tutus, have you ever considered how tutus have evolved throughout history? There's a fascinating history, you know. From the romantic tutus with their frilled tiers and flowing lengths that were popular in the mid-1800s, to the iconic "tight-fitting" tutus we see on modern ballerinas – every style speaks of the beauty and grace of the ballet! Did you know that, originally, ballerinas only started wearing them in the 1840s, as it became a symbol of elegance and freedom in their dancing? I'm obsessed with tutus, I must say! They're so very, very beautiful! I even managed to find a fabulous vintage shop in Vienna that had an entire section dedicated to vintage tutus!

Tutu Shopping Spree!

Shopping in Vienna has been an absolute dream! The shops are beautiful and full of the most delightful clothes – imagine silks, sequins, and delicate embroidery! You could lose yourself for hours wandering the shops of Vienna – especially if you’re a girl who loves pink! (Just ask my suitcase!) For instance, this Wednesday morning I went shopping and found this incredible lilac and lavender floral patterned dress at a little boutique that only locals seem to know about! The pattern of tiny blossoms makes me want to do a grand jeté into a field of wild flowers – oh the joy!

I also managed to snag an elegant cream velvet opera coat, adorned with sparkly embroidery, that will look magnificent when worn over a sleek, black cocktail dress! And I also couldn't resist a pair of beautiful ballet shoes with intricate ribbons that just screamed "Vienna".

Train Adventures and Horse-Drawn Carriages

Getting around Vienna has been such a pleasure – I’ve taken full advantage of their fantastic train network! Oh, I just love the charming old carriages – imagine being in an old railway carriage with velvet seats! My journeys across this elegant city are an absolute dream! Even though Vienna is filled with majestic old world cars, I had to take a ride in a beautiful horse-drawn carriage through the Vienna Woods. I found it incredibly romantic, and felt just like a princess stepping out of a fairy tale!

The Magic of Vienna

Oh darlings, if you're searching for the most elegant city in Europe, look no further than Vienna! From the stunning opera house to the historical landmarks and even the elegant shops (where you can get yourself a wonderful new tutu, if I do say so myself), I guarantee it's a trip you'll never forget!

So, remember darlings, put on your favourite pink tutu, and embrace the elegant world that surrounds you – you never know when you'll meet a fellow tutu enthusiast! And if you ever find yourself in Vienna, just think of all the gorgeous places to visit – like the beautiful Hofburg Palace, the charming Vienna State Opera House, and, of course, the most adorable cafes!

I’m off now, dear readers, to see the beautiful sunrise over Vienna. And I can't wait to tell you all about my new ballet adventures!

Stay elegant, and keep twirling,

Emma x
