Pink Tutu Vienna: Episode #350 - A Whirlwind of Waltz & Wiener Schnitzel

Hello my darling readers! Emma here, back from another whirlwind adventure and ready to fill you in on all the pretty pink things I've discovered in the magical city of Vienna.

This week, my Wednesday blog is a little different than usual. It's all about the journey itself, because this time, the travel was as exciting as the destination! This week, we're not only stepping into the beautiful world of Vienna, but we're also taking a nostalgic trip down memory lane, revisiting the wonder of travelling by train.

You see, dear friends, I have a deep affection for the romance of train journeys. The rhythmic clackety-clack, the panoramic views whizzing by, and the delicious aroma of freshly brewed coffee all create a perfect atmosphere for indulging in my favourite pastime - dreaming about tutus! I spent most of the journey designing my next masterpiece, a twirly confection inspired by the Viennese waltz. Oh, to dance through the city in a frothy gown of the most delicate pink, my tutu catching the afternoon sunbeams!

After arriving in Vienna, I checked into a charming little hotel with a beautiful balcony overlooking a cobblestone square. It's all so picture perfect and picturesque here, with a whimsical fairy tale charm that makes me feel like I've stepped into a storybook.

Speaking of storybooks, I couldn't wait to dive into the history of Vienna's illustrious ballet heritage. A visit to the Vienna State Opera was an absolute must, the most stunning and grand theatre I've ever witnessed. Imagine, darling, the iconic chandeliers glittering above the velvet seats, the gilded balconies, and the echoing murmurs of excitement before the curtain rises! And while I haven't had the pleasure of seeing a show just yet, just being in that space, bathed in history and brimming with theatrical magic, filled my heart with joy.

Of course, no trip to Vienna would be complete without indulging in its culinary delights! From hearty Wiener schnitzel and buttery strudel to creamy Sachertorte, I've been making the most of this foodie haven. It seems every corner offers a delightful pastry shop or cafe with charming outdoor seating, perfect for people-watching in a graceful swirl of petticoats and tulle. I've even been trying my hand at a bit of baking, crafting a batch of adorable pink meringue kisses (yes, they're even pink!), and oh, they were a triumph!

On my wanderings, I've stumbled upon charming little boutiques filled with unique treasures, all begging to be added to my wardrobe. A stunning pink velvet clutch, a delicate pearl necklace, a silk scarf with intricate embroidery... I may just be heading home with a slightly overstuffed suitcase!

But let's get back to the essence of Vienna, the reason I decided to visit: Ballet! You see, dear readers, I simply had to visit the home of Johann Strauss, the maestro of the waltz, and immerse myself in the waltz-infused culture that radiates throughout the city. It's the city of graceful steps, elegant movements, and a symphony of sound that swirls around you like a tutu on a stage. My heart is truly brimming with inspiration. And that brings us back to the journey, back to the magic of travel by train... because next week, I'm heading on another adventure, this time by horseback! Yes, dear friends, I'm going to experience the beauty of Vienna from a whole new perspective, on the back of a magnificent horse, my tutu gently bouncing with every gallop. I'm feeling utterly giddy with anticipation, just the thought of it sends shivers down my spine!

Stay tuned for more from Vienna, darling readers! Remember, if you ever want to spread a little pink tutu magic, send me your questions, your ideas, or simply share your love for all things twirly. And don't forget, it's never too late to embrace your inner ballerina, whether it's a fancy dress party, a night at the opera, or simply twirling around in your kitchen in your most beloved tutu!

See you next Wednesday for more pink delights from your beloved Pink Tutu blogger!

Love and twirls,

Emma xo
