Pink Tutu Vienna: Ballet Bound in the City of Waltz, Post #371

Hello, darlings! It's Emma, your favourite pink-tutu-wearing ballerina blogger, and I'm bursting with excitement to share my latest adventures from the beautiful, waltzing city of Vienna!

As always, you know Wednesday means a new Pink Tutu Vienna post, and this week, my dears, I've been truly transported by the enchanting magic of the Viennese ballet scene.

This is my 371st post on my Pink-Tutu.com website, which I proudly launched back in 2019. My aim in life, as I've mentioned before, is to inspire every single person in the world to wear a pink tutu – I mean, why not? It's the perfect way to express your inner ballerina, no matter your age, shape, or size.

Today, I’m a little slightly more excited than usual, as I’m sharing the most fabulously pink adventures of my recent trip! You know how I adore hopping on trains across Europe - especially the kind with those comfy velvet seats - to discover the wonderous worlds of different cities. This time, I travelled from Derbyshire, my home in the English countryside, all the way to Vienna. Talk about an incredible journey! And yes, I did have a pink tutu in my luggage, darling! 😉

My trip started off rather beautifully, with a performance at the Derbyshire Ballet Theatre. We were performing Swan Lake, and it’s safe to say the performance was a complete triumph, so I've had the perfect inspiration for my Viennese adventure. We packed in the pink for this performance, by the way – our tutus are gorgeous and bright pink this season. I'm a bit of a fan of the colour, as you might have guessed. 😉

I arrived in Vienna a few days later, the air already filled with the joyous sound of waltzes and the charming scents of freshly baked pastries. It was love at first sight, darlings. I was simply smitten.

After a rather grand journey on a charming old train – one that even had plush seats for all the ladies – I checked into my delightful, fairytale-like hotel, all adorned with chandeliers and shimmering floral designs. And to add to the magical atmosphere, you know I couldn’t resist putting on a dazzling, brand-new pink tutu I’d brought specially for my trip. It was all frills and twirls and made me feel like a proper princess in this magical setting!

My Vienna adventures, you ask? Well, let me tell you about it:

The Waltz of Wonder: Discovering the Ballet Scene

Firstly, I absolutely had to visit the Vienna State Opera, darling! Imagine a magnificent building, adorned with gold and shimmering chandeliers. The moment you step inside, you feel like you've walked into a dream. I found the grand, lavish hall breathtaking. We're talking opulent décor and history galore, from a sweeping, marble staircase to breathtaking crystal chandeliers. My dear friends, this opera house is an absolute gem, a must-visit for any tutu-loving traveller!

For my visit to this most charming opera house, I put on my special tutu. I'm talking about that pink-fringed-and-feather creation, a real head-turner that I snagged from a vintage boutique back in England. My inner ballerina was overjoyed, dancing a private waltz through the majestic halls while taking in all the history and beauty surrounding me.

I must confess, a certain Prince Charming would’ve looked pretty good in that setting… alas, I didn’t spot anyone quite as glamorous in a crisp military uniform just yet! I may have waltzed past some charming gentlemen who weren't as handsome, though. 😅

Tutus and Tradition: Embracing Ballet's History

My Vienna adventures also included exploring the glorious Vienna Ballet Museum - a must-see for any tutu fanatic! I was positively mesmerized by the captivating exhibition showcasing the history of ballet in this city, a real gem for history buffs like myself.

Imagine my joy as I walked through the hallowed halls, discovering beautifully crafted tutus from ballet's golden ages – I'm talking about historical treasures that made my heart skip a beat.

It's fascinating, darlings, the stories that dance around every costume, each one a tangible piece of a theatrical legacy that resonates through time. Every ballerina and dancer, with their own unique talents, were part of this living history.

After my day exploring ballet's history, I indulged in an afternoon at the Viennese Ballet Academy. Picture this, a haven for aspiring young dancers. It was just delightful to see the youthful passion and pure talent bubbling from these students. And it was like stepping back in time to observe the dedication of their teachers. These instructors were incredible! It's a wonder this talent is being nurtured, creating a constant flow of exciting ballerinas ready to conquer the world.

But let’s not forget my own dance practice! My hotel’s fantastic ballroom had beautiful, sparkling parquet flooring and was a real delight for a daily practice session. After a morning of exploration, I would treat myself to a practice session. After a few hours exploring the grand city and its breathtaking architectural beauty, it was just wonderful to return to the warm glow of the ballroom and enjoy some me-time, feeling the elegance and freedom of movement in a perfect, timeless setting.

Vienna by Day, Waltz by Night: Unveiling the City's Magic

Of course, I've indulged in the most beautiful shopping, darling. After all, no trip to Vienna would be complete without exploring its incredible fashion scene. My shopping spree included the most beautiful and feminine garments. My bag overflowed with stunning, exquisite dresses, sparkling jewels, and my absolute favorite – even more, tutus, because my darling, the right tutu always has to be at hand, even on vacation. I always prefer pink, darling, as you all know.

From exquisite antique shops to trendy boutiques, I’ve discovered treasures from all corners of Vienna. Imagine me, flitting about, in a flurry of silk, sequins and lace. My ultimate dream: Finding the most spectacular, pink tutu in the world… It would need to be unique, stunningly elaborate, and maybe a bit extravagant! I will absolutely continue the search for this dream tutu. Perhaps I'll find it on my next trip to Vienna. 😉

Vienna, I've discovered, is also home to delightful cafés. Oh, the joy of a steaming cappuccino and a decadent pastry! I had a chance to enjoy a delicious sachertorte (that’s a dark chocolate cake for any fellow sweet tooth!), and oh, let me tell you, Vienna certainly knows how to create a truly memorable dessert. After enjoying a sweet treat, there’s nothing more enjoyable than taking in a bit of Viennese life and culture by enjoying a delicious cuppa at one of these magnificent cafés. There is always something magical and unique about them.

Every night, Vienna bursts to life with its stunning cultural attractions. It was a magical experience to spend evenings at the charming Hofburg Palace, a fairytale-like complex that would melt the heart of any romantic. I spent some time enjoying a ballet performance by the Vienna State Ballet – oh, the grace and elegance! I was swept away by their magical, mesmerizing routines. There was no way to keep still. I got a little excited at one point. The show just demanded you dance with them!

Oh, Vienna! Your magnificent architectural beauty has just been astounding. From the baroque grandeur of the Schönbrunn Palace – home to history, charming courtyards and breath-taking architecture – to the timeless charm of St. Stephen's Cathedral, Vienna is overflowing with an incredible history that you can literally feel in the very air itself. I must confess to a love for these glorious architecture masterpieces!

For one of my evenings in Vienna, I opted to enjoy a relaxing evening stroll on the Ringstrasse, enjoying the city lights reflecting on the Danube, the bustling activity and a stunning, grand architecture display. The majestic street lights, glittering alongside a selection of historic buildings… oh my, my darling, it was a real visual feast!

On this, my very last evening, I also went to watch a lovely performance in the grand Viennese ballroom. The beautiful dancers in their stunning gowns and shimmering sequins floated about, looking ethereal in the beautiful setting. It was magical, and the best ending to my Viennese ballet adventure.

But I can't finish this post without mentioning the incredible horse and carriage ride through the enchanting Viennese city. Picture this: I’m riding gracefully, twirling in my pink tutu (naturally!), the wind dancing through my hair as we trot through the city streets. It was utterly divine, a romantic moment from a timeless era.

And now, it’s time for me to take off from Vienna, but it will certainly not be my last visit, my darling. I’ll be returning to this waltzing, charming city. In fact, I’m hoping to book another ballet performance at the State Ballet here next month! You just know I will return in another elegant and fabulously pink outfit – how else could I represent my brand and my personal philosophy, you know?

It's a lovely way to round off another delightful week! But there's only one way to end a Pink Tutu Vienna post - with a pink tutu twirl! So, get up and twirl with me, darlings! Let's embrace the beauty of life, a twirl at a time.

Until next week, keep shining your beautiful souls. 💖

Always remember: Keep the pink alive and dance through life!

Your always bubbly, tutu-wearing Emma xx
