Pink Tutu Vienna: Blog Post #382: Viennese Waltz Dreams

Hello darlings! It's Emma, your resident pink-tutu wearing, ballet-obsessed traveller, and I'm writing to you from the heart of Vienna! It's Wednesday, the 28th of August, and you know what that means… a new Pink Tutu Vienna blog post!

As you may have gathered, Vienna is just the perfect city for a girl who lives in a pink tutu. It's dripping in history, elegance, and artistic splendour, all the things that get my heart aflutter! I travelled here by train, of course – a grand old carriage that I felt just right in my pink tulle skirt. I just had to admire the way the sun made the train tracks shimmer. It felt like we were whisked off into a magical fairytale world, and as much as I love being on stage, I’ve found myself thoroughly enjoying travelling.

A Whirlwind of Viennese History

I landed in this magical city straight into a whirlwind of waltzes and waltzes and more waltzes. Of course, being in the heart of Viennese ballet, I simply had to visit the Vienna State Opera and the Burgtheater, both absolutely stunning theatres. Can you believe the Burgtheater is older than Shakespeare? It just adds to the enchanting, historic quality of the place. And don't even get me started on the architecture – it’s straight out of a storybook!

The most impressive part, however, is the legacy of the ballet. Oh, Vienna, Vienna! What an astonishing treasure trove for the history buff like me! I felt myself transported to the age of romanticism with every step, and imagine my delight – I discovered a delightful little shop nestled near the Vienna State Opera, ‘Das Tutu Haus', filled with every kind of tutu you could ever imagine! It’s like walking into a ballet tutu heaven! Oh, it was enough to make me swoon! I felt myself twirling just browsing through those shelves, dreaming of waltzing with the wind on a summer’s evening.

Shopping Spree in the City of Dreams

Vienna, just like any other beautiful European city, has been an absolute delight for the fashionista in me. It's impossible to resist the chic boutiques and vintage shops bursting with style. You can easily get lost for hours, trying on different styles and finding hidden treasures – vintage gloves that make my fingers tingle with excitement, stunning jewellery, and a hat to match every one of my tutu outfits!

The highlight of the shopping extravaganza was undoubtedly finding a dress to wear to the Opera. It’s not easy being a tutu girl when everyone’s dressing in long elegant gowns and suits, but I found the perfect dress, a swirling pink number, with just a hint of sparkle. Imagine the twinkle of pink light in the theatre against a dark velvet curtain. Simply a beautiful spectacle for the eye. You can just see it, right, just imagine!

From Ballet to Horses

Okay, now I am talking about Vienna and Ballet – how about some ballet performances?!

One thing I’ve noticed in Vienna is the vibrant cultural scene here is as colourful as my pink tutu, and it’s a lovely reminder to me why I started this pink tutu journey. Vienna is where the legendary Waltz is at its very finest! Oh, imagine those swirling waltzes! How amazing are those, eh? My love for the art form is absolutely renewed here in Vienna!

To indulge in my ballet and horsey whims, I headed for a show at the famous Spanish Riding School, an incredible stable with a rich history and amazing equestrian feats, the likes of which I’ve never seen! It's not ballet but the riders on these stunning Lipizzaner horses - those graceful movements, those fantastic high-stepping jumps. Imagine these stallions moving with so much precision, so beautiful - you get an appreciation of ballet at an entirely different level. You have to see it, it's almost poetic! Imagine them in those amazing uniform jackets, with white riding trousers, it’s beautiful.

Food and Fun

Of course, it wouldn't be a real pink tutu journey without exploring the local delicacies! Viennese cakes and pastries – I had to give them a try. Let's just say I might have gone a little overboard, trying to fit them all in! And Vienna’s famous Sachertorte has been the perfect ending to each day.

In Vienna, the cafés are an art form – I even took some inspiration for my upcoming performance designs. Imagine a little table in a Parisian cafe, an exquisite French design with elegant chairs, and a lovely pink tutu-themed cup and saucer. You could easily picture my upcoming performances in Vienna with an amazing setting and beautiful decor, right? It’s the sort of inspiration that just floats through my mind.

I hope this has been a delicious little glimpse into my Viennese adventure. Oh my goodness, what an adventure it’s been, I haven’t felt this inspired and thrilled by an European city before! There’s something about Vienna that gets you dreaming – a combination of fairytale charm and artistic brilliance.

Next time you are considering your next trip, do consider the wonderful Vienna – let it take you on its artistic and historic journey and take a journey to get everyone wearing pink tutus in a gorgeous setting, you might even discover some ballet and tutu treasures of your own!

Stay fabulous darlings and remember, it's always Pink Tutu time!!

Emma XOXO
