Hello my darling darlings! Welcome back to Pink Tutu Vienna! It's Wednesday, the day we gather in the digital ballroom of the internet and share our love for all things pink and twirly! This week I've been waltzing my way through Vienna, and let me tell you, it's just as magical as everyone says. From the grandeur of the opera house to the cobblestone streets and hidden cafes, there's an almost storybook feel here, and the pink tutu feels perfectly at home in this enchanting atmosphere.
Speaking of enchanting atmospheres, I couldn't resist popping into the Vienna State Opera last night! Oh, my darlings, you wouldn't believe the dazzling array of feathers and jewels on display. I must admit, I felt a little envious of the elaborate costumes! They had such drama and extravagance, but it only made me more determined to twirl and dance with all my might! I managed to snag a seat in the back row of the second tier - close enough to appreciate the art of ballet but affordable enough to keep this pink-loving blogger afloat. It's all about being clever with our finances, wouldn't you agree? It also allows us to see even more ballet productions - I always make sure I can see a show, after all, there's no better way to immerse oneself in a culture than through its art.
My own personal ballet experience here has been delightful too! I managed to slip into a beginner's ballet class last weekend. Imagine my delight when the other dancers, mostly local Viennese ladies, all stopped mid-plié to admire my vibrant pink tutu. It turns out I wasn't the only one who felt the need for a touch of colour in their life! The class was held in a studio adorned with beautiful faded photographs of past ballerinas - it really added to the vintage feel of the class and made me feel like I'd been whisked back to a bygone era.
As always, I couldn't resist exploring the city's charming boutiques and independent shops for new additions to my tutu collection. Vienna is a real treasure trove of vintage items - I found the most beautiful silk scarves and delicate antique brooches, and of course, I snapped up a little something in pink! This trip has truly inspired me to re-evaluate my collection - it feels more than ever that the tutus and frills and vintage chic really suit this lovely city!
I do have to tell you, even though I've always been a lover of city life, Vienna has me longing for a little peace and quiet amidst the greenery of its parks and gardens. On Friday I'm heading for Schönbrunn Palace for a little waltz under the sunshine, enjoying the park's idyllic surroundings. I even hear they have a wonderful café! I'll be sure to take lots of pictures so I can share the charming scene with you all. Perhaps we could even create a pink tutu picnic amongst the flowerbeds. I think it would make for an amazing blog post and Instagram worthy moment!
And speaking of amazing Instagram moments, did you all catch my last post? The horse-drawn carriage tour around the city was such an elegant affair, and the horse was incredibly gentle! If you find yourself in Vienna, you simply must book a ride - it is an absolutely delightful experience that makes you feel like you're in a movie!
That being said, I do adore travelling by train. The chugging sound, the view of the countryside rushing by, the way the journey transforms into a chance to delve into a good book - what's not to love? And for my latest travel adventure, I'm heading to Budapest! I have an upcoming performance at a beautiful little theatre on the banks of the Danube River - such an incredible opportunity to connect with another gorgeous city! Imagine, Budapest, waltzing and tutu's galore. My dear darlings, this promises to be another truly magical adventure. Don't worry, I'll keep you updated on every delightful detail!
