Vienna Waltz - A Tutuful Adventure! (Post #417)

Hello my darling dears! Emma here, your favourite tutu-clad traveller, waltzing straight from the streets of Vienna into your screens! ??

This week I’m swapping my usual Derbyshire countryside for the cobbled streets of Vienna! The journey here was absolutely magical. I travelled in style, of course, in a plush carriage with a big, fluffy horse – talk about a picture-perfect fairytale! ✨

Vienna, with its imperial history, beautiful architecture and the most delicious pastries, has swept me off my feet. From the moment I arrived, I could practically hear the lilting melodies of Mozart and Strauss in the air. I have the feeling this is going to be a waltz of a week!

A Tutuful Treat for the Senses

This is my fourth visit to Vienna, and it feels like coming home. I’m delighted to share my top tutuful highlights with you all:

A Stroll Down the Opera Alley:

My day began with a delightful visit to the Vienna State Opera. The grand architecture was just breathtaking! The facade alone deserves its own Instagram post. Then I stepped into the auditorium – oh, the plush velvet seats and the gilded balconies, it’s straight out of a fairytale!

The first show I saw here was a ballet performance of La Sylphide – truly a spectacular experience. The story was captivating, and the costumes were divine. There were even a few tutu moments I can't wait to share with you in a later post! ?

Dancing on Air:

After my Opera experience, I hopped on a beautiful horse-drawn carriage for a tour of the city centre. This time, however, I had to swap my trusty ballet shoes for practical footwear. The streets of Vienna are full of cobblestones – perfect for clicking my heels, but perhaps not the ideal surface for twirling! ?

But no trip to Vienna is complete without a waltz. So later this evening, I'm planning to go to a waltz salon! I hear the Viennese waltz is famously smooth and graceful - a dream come true for a ballet lover like me. Imagine the twirls!

A Touch of Elegance and a Dash of Pink:

You all know how much I love shopping, and Vienna has been a paradise for my tutu-clad eyes! The city is bursting with boutiques and antique shops, each overflowing with exquisite treasures and glamorous garments.

This morning, I discovered a vintage shop in the city centre brimming with tutus and ballet shoes – think silk, feathers, and a kaleidoscope of colour! I was positively giddy! I picked out a few beautiful vintage tutus to add to my collection. And of course, you can bet I'll be showcasing those beauties in a post soon. ?

The Sweetness of Viennese Treats:

No trip to Vienna is complete without a sweet treat. I indulged in the most delightful Sachertorte – a rich chocolate cake with a dollop of apricot jam. It was the perfect blend of decadent and delightful. Vienna is famous for its pastries – think apple strudel, whipped cream and the sweetest cherries imaginable! ?

The Ballerina's Ballet Bag:

Speaking of Vienna's charms, let me show you what I've packed for this enchanting trip:

  1. My trusty tutu bag, of course!
  2. My new pink polka-dot dress with a fluffy pink tulle skirt – so perfect for twirling around the city!
  3. A vintage floral fascinator – to add a touch of flair to every outfit!
  4. A delicate ballet slipper necklace – I just adore this delicate accessory!
  5. My trusty red ballet flats – perfect for walking and for dancing the night away.

Next Week's Waltz:

My tutu-clad travels continue next week. I plan to explore Schönbrunn Palace, see the world famous Hofburg Palace, and even take a peek at the Belvedere Palace with its captivating art collection!

Join me again next Wednesday for another adventure. Remember to check back at www.pink-tutu.com – your one-stop shop for all things pink and tutuful!
