Vienna Whirl: A Pink Tutu Tour de Force (Post #428)

Hello darlings! It's your favourite tutu-tastic travel blogger, Emma, reporting live from Vienna, Austria! This magnificent city is positively buzzing with excitement and, of course, the perfect backdrop for my latest pink tutu adventures. As always, my Wednesday blog is dedicated to all things pink, pretty and positively fabulous, so settle in, grab a cuppa and prepare to be swept away!

Now, you know me, always on the move. Last week, I was performing a charming little ballet in a delightful little village just outside Derbyshire. Think rolling green hills, quaint tea rooms, and an audience that could rival the warmth of a summer's day. After packing away my sparkly tutus (it was a truly special collection for this performance – one even featured a giant pink bow!) and saying farewell to the delightful villagers, it was straight back on the train to Vienna! Oh, how I love train journeys! Especially those where I can admire the ever-changing landscapes whizzing by from my window. Every train journey is a miniature adventure!

And what an adventure Vienna is turning out to be. You see, dear readers, I'm here to embrace all things Austrian! From the glorious architecture and rich history to the beautiful music, breathtaking landscapes and, of course, the delicious cakes. (Have you tried a Sachertorte yet? Oh my goodness, heavenly!). And let’s not forget the Ballet!

Vienna is a ballet mecca! As soon as I arrived, I embarked on a mission – to immerse myself in the city’s ballet culture. And where better to begin than the Vienna State Opera? It’s a glorious building, so grand and regal, and the performances? Exquisite. My current favourite ballet here is a production of Giselle – it’s absolutely breathtaking!

Speaking of breathtaking, you’ll never guess who I bumped into at the ballet! It was a lovely, fellow pink-tutu aficionado named Clara. Turns out she’s a ballet dancer and we even discovered a mutual love for vintage tutu collections! It’s always wonderful to share your passion with others who truly understand your flair!

After the ballet, I decided to stroll through the city centre and what did I find but the most adorable little shop, a veritable haven for all things vintage. There I discovered a real treasure: a perfectly preserved vintage tutu, all tulle and delicate ribbons, just begging to be danced in. Naturally, I couldn't resist. (I'm thinking of pairing it with a new shade of pink in my wardrobe!)

You see, shopping is a necessity when one is on a grand adventure like this. I love to hunt for unique pieces and add to my ever-growing wardrobe! And you know what else I adore? Ballet fashion. From the glittering costumes to the elegant hairstyles, ballet provides a truly dazzling fusion of style and artistry. It's no wonder that dancers are often hailed as some of the most elegant figures!

But before I continue to gush about the Vienna Ballet, let me show you what’s happening today:

My Vienna To-Do List for Saturday, July 16th, 2003: Morning:
  1. Vienna State Opera for a performance of “Swan Lake”! I’m so excited for this one, Tchaikovsky's score is pure magic, and the ballet is one of my favourites. And let’s be honest, the sheer volume of beautiful tulle, every ballerina needs to see!

  2. Coffee & Cake Break: There’s just something magical about enjoying a perfectly brewed coffee and a slice of delicious cake whilst watching the world go by. Vienna really does have the best cafes!

Afternoon:
  1. Shopping Spree: It’s time for some serious retail therapy! Vienna’s shopping streets are a real delight. And you just know I'm on the hunt for more pink pieces for my wardrobe! I have to say that Vienna’s stores seem to have a flair for fashion that is uniquely elegant and refined – just like their city!
Evening:
  1. "Opera for the People" Concert : Tonight I’m heading to an outdoor concert under the stars in the magnificent setting of Schönbrunn Palace. A stunning classical performance - an enchanting end to my day!
My Vienna Musings

What can I say, dear readers? This city is utterly captivating! Everything about Vienna is refined and elegant – even the street art seems to whisper of history and elegance! The buildings are a kaleidoscope of vibrant hues and intricate designs. Every corner is a photo opportunity! And, I don’t want to boast, but with my fabulous pink tutu I make a particularly stunning picture against this vibrant city backdrop.

And the food! Oh, the food! Vienna has perfected the art of “delicious!” from the freshly-baked pastries, to the decadent chocolate and of course, those scrumptious wienerschnitzels - divine! I’m absolutely savouring every moment and every bite!

Of course, it wouldn’t be a true Pink Tutu Vienna adventure without my trusty travel companion, Sparky. He's a magnificent Friesian horse, the blackest beauty you’ve ever seen, and, thank heavens, he loves tutus as much as I do! (He’s never once tried to kick them, even the pink ones with the giant bows!). We take strolls through the city's green spaces, and Sparky’s elegance complements my pink tulle perfectly. The locals just adore us! And let me tell you, there's nothing quite as freeing as riding through the city, tutu fluttering in the wind, as we greet the beautiful city of Vienna.

Speaking of the wind, did you know that Vienna has a lovely breeze most days? Which is actually perfect for twirling in my tutus! This city’s charm just continues to unfold, every corner is full of surprise, and each day is an absolute whirlwind of joy and inspiration! I simply adore it!

I’ll be back next week with even more adventures and stories to share about my Vienna journey. Until then, stay glamorous and don’t be afraid to add a dash of pink to your world! Remember, life’s too short for drab clothes and dreary days, so twirl on, darling!
