Pink Tutu Vienna: Whirlwind Wednesdays – Post #434
Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed blogger, and I'm writing to you from the heart of Vienna, Austria! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another exciting Pink Tutu Vienna post.
I've been dreaming of visiting Vienna for years – the music, the culture, the grand buildings, the cafes... and of course, the ballet! I finally took the plunge, and arrived here just a couple of weeks ago, and oh my goodness, Vienna is truly a dream come true.
I decided to get here in style, taking the train all the way from Derbyshire, with a quick change at Munich for my perfect ballerina outfit. I do adore the elegance of travelling by train – so much better than stuffy airplanes, wouldn’t you say? And of course, I made sure to pack my very favourite pink tutu, perfect for waltzing around the Austrian capital.
Ballet in ViennaI have to say, Vienna is just bursting at the seams with ballet history. It's literally everywhere you turn! And don't even get me started on the dance studios - pure heaven. Every day, I pop in for a quick ballet class just to stay nimble, because you know what they say: "practice makes perfect!" And what’s perfect about this ballet scene is the blend of the traditional and the contemporary – a truly exciting mix for a dancer at heart like me.
I've already seen a performance by the Vienna State Opera, a real grand ballet theatre built back in 1869, wow! Their productions are so lavish and sophisticated – all that fabulous staging and beautiful costumes – I practically gasped with joy at every scene! It reminded me so much of the ballet shows I grew up watching in Derbyshire, just on a bigger, grander scale.
There are just so many places in Vienna where you can see ballet – even on the street, there are these wonderful street performances, especially in the evenings, and if you are really lucky, they even have a performance near the iconic Vienna Opera House! I even stumbled upon a ballet festival this week, all about the history of ballet from its Russian roots. I mean, could it be any more perfect for this pink tutu-wearing ballet enthusiast?
A Viennese Dream – Tutus, Food, and FashionNow, apart from the glorious ballet, Vienna has also captivated my heart with its delightful cafes. You can’t take a step in this city without spotting a delightful, charming cafe, filled with locals and tourists alike, indulging in coffee, cake, and chat. My current favourite spot is Café Sacher – a historical café famous for its mouthwatering Sachertorte – absolutely delicious!
It's not just about the food, darling! The Viennese sense of style and fashion has been absolutely inspiring. Everything is so elegant, from the vintage dresses in the charity shops to the luxurious designer boutiques along the Kärntner Straße. It's so much fun to explore the vintage markets and browse the boutiques, always keeping an eye out for that perfect, vintage pink tutu – perhaps even for my next Vienna blog post!
I love that the city itself just seems to exude an air of elegance. Every shop, every restaurant, even the trams are beautifully decorated – all just perfectly charming! It's almost impossible not to feel glamorous and in the mood to twirl, whether you’re in a ballet class, a café, or just strolling through the beautiful streets of this incredible city.
What’s OnSpeaking of fabulous, just imagine this, darling – tomorrow is August 28th! And on this date in 1873, guess what was happening in Vienna? It was the grand opening of the famous Vienna State Opera – where I watched the amazing ballet production earlier this week! How wonderful is that, such a little piece of ballet history right here in Vienna, what an incredible feeling! The history of Vienna, it’s full of amazing events and tales about emperors, musicians, and of course, ballet – such a wonderful and inspiring atmosphere.
Well, darling, I have a busy afternoon planned – another ballet class followed by a bit of shopping, perhaps in one of those grand, vintage clothing stores in the city – what’s a girl to do when surrounded by such incredible style! I have this feeling that Vienna has completely stolen my heart, it’s a pink-tutu-wearing ballerina’s paradise – oh my goodness, how amazing is that! And my fellow tutu-wearing darlings, trust me, it’s worth a visit, I guarantee it!
See you next week, darlings!
XOXO,
Emma
