Vienna Waltz: Pink Tutu Takes Over the City of Dreams!

#435 - September 3rd, 2003 - www.pink-tutu.com

Dearest Tutuettes!

Vienna! My heart is still palpitating with excitement as I sit in the glorious Hotel Sacher, overlooking the shimmering Danube River. The air here is thick with romance, the architecture is simply breathtaking, and the waltzing rhythms of Strauss echo through my soul!

You know I love nothing more than discovering new cities and this week, I decided to treat myself to a little trip across Europe by train, all the way from Derbyshire. The journey itself was magical! I’ve never been one to fly when there are train lines available, the landscapes rushing past the window are like a film montage in real life – and they’re far more conducive to pink tutu wearing than those tiny airplane seats! Plus, who doesn't love a good carriage with plush velvet seats and a spot of afternoon tea?

Arriving in Vienna was like stepping into a fairytale. Imagine grand palaces, opulent buildings, bustling cafes, cobbled streets - and don't forget the world famous Vienna State Opera. A dancer's dream, you could say!

As for me? I have naturally been hitting the boutiques, you can't travel to a city famed for its exquisite fashion and not indulge, can you? This city's shopping is divine, and of course I found myself gravitating towards the pinks. Imagine my delight when I found this adorable little boutique tucked away down a narrow lane - their window was filled with fluffy pink boas and a display of sequined tutus! Needless to say, I snagged a pink silk scarf that practically screams 'Vienna' to me. It’s definitely going to become a treasured memento of this magical trip!

This week's performance is the jewel in my crown: a sold out evening performance of "The Sleeping Beauty" at the Vienna State Opera. Oh, how I've dreamed of performing on this grand stage!

And what is Vienna without a little waltz? Later today, I'm going to immerse myself in a world of music and dance at the famous Musikverein. Can you imagine? Strauss, Mozart, and me in my pink tutu – now that’s an image worthy of a Viennese postcard!

But my adventures haven't ended there! I have big plans for the rest of my time here:

  • Exploring the Museums: Vienna is overflowing with art and history! The Kunsthistorisches Museum, the Belvedere Palace - all promise a wealth of inspiration and I can’t wait to discover their ballet connections.
  • Vienna Ballet Archives: No ballerina's trip to Vienna is complete without visiting the ballet archives at the Theater an der Wien. The stories and relics that hide within those walls!
  • The Hofburg Palace: A true vision of history and power, this magnificent palace promises grand rooms, elaborate tapestries, and enough grandeur to fuel a dancer’s wildest imagination!
  • Dinner in a Wiener Schnitzel Paradise: Who can resist Vienna's most famous culinary treat? You know I'm going to try the local cuisine with gusto, of course while keeping my outfit as elegant as a waltz, naturally.

I can't wait to tell you all about my experiences! My camera is bursting with pictures, so be sure to follow along on Instagram! I might even put a few outfit inspirations up, I found some delightful ballet-themed shoes on a trip to the Naschmarkt - a charming market buzzing with colour and a feast for the eyes!

Until next week, dear Tutuettes, remember to dance your way through life with a smile, a twirl, and a whole lotta pink!

Love,

Emma www.pink-tutu.com
