Vienna, Vienna, Vienna - Oh, What a City! 💖🩰

Wednesday 24th September 2003 - Blog Post Number 438

Dearest fellow tutu enthusiasts!

Oh, darling, my Vienna adventures continue to take my breath away, just like the incredible waltzes played at the Vienna State Opera. This city is pure magic. And I have to say, it’s certainly a much more sensible city for tutus than Derbyshire. There's simply no such thing as too much pink in Vienna, trust me. They absolutely love a bit of frou frou! 😉

This week has been particularly thrilling. I caught a truly wonderful ballet at the Volksoper. Oh my word, the costumes were exquisite, a sea of soft pink tulle and glittering sequins. And the dancing? Absolutely divine. A little pirouette this way, a grand jeté that way, I felt like I was in a dream. And my own sparkly pink tutu, which I specially ordered for this trip from the shop on Mariahilfer Strasse, looked right at home!

Of course, it wouldn’t be Vienna without a bit of sightseeing, wouldn’t you agree? I must say, I simply had to explore Schönbrunn Palace! What an extraordinary place. Picture this: cobbled streets, lush gardens, a beautiful imperial palace... Oh, and the storybook pink accents, darling, simply divine. Just imagine what sort of ballerinas danced in the halls of such a magical place. The most thrilling moment was the palace carriage tour. The carriage, a gorgeous antique masterpiece, seemed to have stepped right out of a fairytale! I can’t even begin to tell you how wonderful it was to see Vienna from a horse-drawn carriage, with my pink tutu billowing in the breeze. It was almost like a scene from one of my favourite ballet shows. You simply must have this experience! And I’m convinced, if the carriage drivers saw my tutu, they’d have added another flourish to their routines in honor of my very own special, little dance of joy.

Now, darling, I simply must tell you about the deliciousness that awaits you at every corner in this city! I am talking, of course, about coffee. And I'm not just talking about any coffee. I mean the genuine, rich, Viennese coffee - heaven in a cup, truly. I had the most charming café experience at Demel's, their world famous tea room. What a treat! And it wasn’t just the divine coffee – they even served the most elegant cakes and pastries, decorated in delightful shades of pink! It was just divine. Imagine it – all pink everywhere, simply heavenly!

And if you are in the mood for something more modern, there's a simply charming shop near Demel's. A little boutique bursting with beautiful things in every shade of pink. And the most amazing dresses! I just couldn't resist the little tulle frock - it was a very modern take on the tutu - oh, darling, I will just have to show you in a future post! 😉

And now for some more about you. My dearest followers. Are you all ready to share in this enchanting city? If you are lucky enough to travel to Vienna, you simply must allow the rhythm of the city to take hold. Lose yourself in its grandeur, allow it to inspire you!

Oh, I can feel my inspiration bursting out in the most fabulous ballet choreography I've ever created. Imagine, Vienna itself will be the stage! I can see myself gliding across the cobbles, waltzing in the palaces, even doing some fouetté on the beautiful grounds of Schönbrunn. I can almost hear the applause already! Darling, don't worry, I'll post all the exciting details on how to turn yourself into the ballerina you were always meant to be... soon!

Keep your pink tutus on, my dear darlings! Don't worry - there's always room for a little more pink in the world, just as there's always room for a little bit of dance, a little bit of glitter, and a lot of joy! 🩰 💖

Until next Wednesday, dearest friends, stay fashionable!

Love and pirouettes,

Emma,

P.S. Oh, did I tell you the best bit about this city? They are totally welcoming to tutus - they love a bit of sparkle and pink, you wouldn’t believe how often I was stopped on the street just to admire my tutu, with someone calling it "schön" (beautiful!). You must come!
