Vienna, Oh Vienna, My Heart Is Filled with Strudel!
#PinkTutuVienna
Post No. 451: December 24th, 2003
Oh, my darlings! I've just arrived in Vienna! It's a bit of a whirlwind, but just wait until you hear about all the fabulous adventures I'm about to share with you.
This week's post is coming to you from a beautiful, historical café, its walls adorned with delicate rococo paintings and the scent of freshly brewed coffee hanging heavy in the air. It's the perfect backdrop for my Austrian adventures!
This week I'm funding my travels by doing what I do best: performing in a gorgeous ballet in a pink tutu. Honestly, my dear readers, you'd think it was Christmas morning with the amount of sparkle in that particular tutu! But what could be more fitting than a shimmering pink creation to light up the Christmas season?
This week my tutu and I took the stage for the Vienna Opera Ballet, sharing a magical evening of music, dance, and of course, pink. After the show, I indulged in the local treat - delicious strudel, oh my! This delightful dessert certainly put a cherry on top of a perfect evening.
But this trip is about so much more than the stage. I'm diving headfirst into the magic of Vienna. Just the thought of strolling through the Schönbrunn Palace in a pastel pink tutu, or maybe a fluffy pale lilac creation, fills me with glee!
And speaking of fluffy tulle… imagine me at the Wiener Staatsoper, watching the grand ballets while twirling in my own delicate confection of a tutu. I already have the perfect one in mind - a creamy, off-white tulle masterpiece with pink satin ribbons for a touch of my signature colour.
Vienna, oh Vienna, how you have my heart fluttering!
Shopping & Fashion
You simply cannot have a trip to Vienna without venturing into the enchanting shops. Each one is a miniature treasure trove! I found a truly spectacular vintage pink silk dress with a sweet Peter Pan collar and adorable bow details – a real triumph for my wardrobe!
For Christmas Eve, I plan on indulging in some divine Viennese hot chocolate, preferably in a pastel-coloured, antique café. After all, what's better than hot chocolate with a dollop of whipped cream than one enjoyed with a stunning vintage teacup and saucer, nestled in the corner of a glamorous Viennese café?
My fashion motto? Pink tutus and stylish accessories make for a sensational Christmas Eve outfit! It's a match made in heaven!
A Little Bit of History
Even my travels have a bit of historical charm! I’m taking the train to Vienna – my absolute favourite way to travel! You see, my darling readers, my travels have a touch of romanticism about them – it's so much more exciting to watch the world whizzing by than sitting on a stuffy airplane! And to add a sprinkle of elegance to my journey, I'll be taking a carriage ride through the picturesque streets of Vienna.
And speaking of history, there are incredible museums in Vienna, each filled with magnificent works of art and captivating stories from times gone by. Did you know, my dear readers, that tutus were not always the light and airy garments they are today? Imagine, tutus were actually much fuller in the Victorian era! But I digress, this would make a magnificent blog post all its own.
Christmas Spirit & Tradition
Vienna during Christmas is magical. From the bustling markets adorned with glittering lights and Christmas trees, to the scent of roasted almonds and gingerbread wafting through the crisp winter air, everything feels festive and joyful.
Today is Christmas Eve, and my little heart is already brimming with excitement. Christmas Day in Vienna will be an explosion of joy and wonder – imagine waking up to twinkling lights, the scent of spiced Christmas cookies, and a symphony of joyous music filling the air. I can already feel myself dancing through the snow-dusted streets in my favourite pale pink tulle tutu!
To wrap it all up (and by “wrap it up” I mean tie a beautiful bow around it!)
Oh, my dears, I've only just begun exploring the wonders of Vienna, and already I'm captivated! I'll be sure to keep you posted with all my discoveries – and, of course, sharing my enchanting pink tutu-filled escapades as I wander through the historical streets of this captivating city.
So, keep your eyes peeled, and stay tuned! Until next time, darlings!
Much love and sparkles,
Emma x
