Post Number 457: Vienna Calling! š©°š
Hello darlings! Itās Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing blogger, and this weekās adventures have brought me to the beautiful city of Vienna! Itās been a dream of mine to visit for ages, ever since I read all those beautiful books about the imperial waltzes and stunning ballrooms. Of course, the Vienna State Opera is one of the most famous opera houses in the world, and it would be simply criminal to come all this way without witnessing its grandeur.
Trains, TutUs and The Time Warp
It was quite a journey to Vienna, and as always, I decided to travel by train! Thereās just something so romantic about gliding through the countryside, with the wind whispering through the windows and the countryside unfolding like a tapestry. I packed my travel tutu ā a beautiful soft pink number with swirling white chiffon - it's just so comfy, you know? And I have to say, there's a certain magic to watching the scenery whizz past in a tutu! š
Arriving in Vienna felt like stepping straight into a fairytale. The architecture is absolutely breathtaking, and the air is buzzing with an electric energy! After a good sleep at my darling little hotel, I set off on a whirlwind tour, beginning with a must-do ā a visit to the Hofburg Palace! Imagine, darlings, this incredible castle that once housed the mighty Habsburg Empire! The Imperial Apartments were just exquisite, and it was simply divine to imagine those grand balls where the waltzing and the elegance must have been quite beyond anything we can imagine today!
Twirling Through History
As I wander through the grand corridors, I imagine those delicate ladies of the court, with their intricate hairstyles and beautiful gowns, floating effortlessly in their ball gowns, with every movement echoing the elegance of the graceful waltzes. And, of course, no trip to Vienna is complete without experiencing the world-famous Vienna State Opera! I managed to score tickets to see a performance of āDie Fledermausā by Johann Strauss - simply divine, you know? It was like watching history come to life, with those stunning costumes, powerful voices and dramatic choreography. The opera house itself is just spectacular, like something out of a dream, with those gorgeous balconies and a chandelier that positively sparkled! I may have just swooned a little when I first saw it!
Viennese Waltz, Ballet Class and Tea-Time
But my adventures donāt end with waltzing royalty, darlings! You know I simply can't visit a city without trying out the local dance scene! So, I joined a lovely little ballet class - imagine my surprise, I discovered ballet history is actually so rich in Vienna, dating back centuries, the "Viennese School" of ballet, famous for its refined grace! The teacher was quite delightful, very encouraging even with my clumsy attempts at a fouette.
Iāve been exploring Viennaās incredible parks, indulging in the best cakes and pastries I've ever had in my life (itās truly a bakerās paradise!) - Iāve got photos of every one of those gorgeous Viennese pastries and cakes. It's practically a sin not to be indulging! I spent hours exploring the amazing shops, finding a stunning silk scarf, the colour of the blush of the first sunrise, and a beautiful hat, all made with hand-woven silk - It would go perfectly with my newest pale pink tutu. You know, a girlās gotta keep up with the latest fashions!
Tutu-fying Vienna - One Step at a Time
And of course, no trip to Vienna is complete without a little bit of my signature tutu-tastic touch. You'll have to keep an eye out for those photos, because I managed to incorporate my newest, pale pink tutu, with beautiful delicate chiffon ribbons and hand-painted pink roses, into some of the cityās iconic landmarks - like Schƶnbrunn Palace and the Rathaus. I mean, how could I possibly come to such a fabulous place without adding a bit of āEmma flairā?! Just a touch of colour to brighten up the city and inspire everyone to twirl with joy!
Now Iām going to finish this post, darling, and enjoy a delightful coffee (because coffee is quite simply the fuel that keeps this blogger running) and hopefully write up more exciting adventures to share!
Donāt forget to pop over to my website www.pink-tutu.com for more tutus and inspiration and catch me on Wednesdays!
Keep dancing and stay bright! šš©°
Love,
Emma xx
P.S This Wednesday, February 4th, 2004, I will be attending the Vienna State Ballet's performance of "The Sleeping Beauty." I am so excited to see Tchaikovsky's iconic ballet, the costumes are expected to be exquisite. It is bound to be magical, donāt you think?
