Pink Tutu Vienna: Post #476 - A Whirlwind of Waltz and Wiener Schnitzel

Hello my dearest Tutu Tribe! Welcome back to Pink Tutu Vienna, where the only thing sweeter than the Viennese coffee is the melody of waltz music echoing through the streets. Today, Wednesday the 16th of June 2004, Iā€™m sitting here, sunshine streaming through the window, reflecting off my shimmering pink tutu, and thinking about how truly lucky I am to be on this journey!

You see, ever since I left my beloved Derbyshire for this grand adventure, it's been a whirlwind of beautiful chaos, a symphony of sights, sounds, and scents, all intertwined with the graceful thread of my passion: ballet. This week in Vienna has been a tutti-fruiti mix of exploring historic palaces, twirling in the Opera House, and indulging in the culinary delights of this city!

But before I go into the details, I want to share a little secret with you: remember how I said I was funding my travels through performances? Well, the ā€˜Vienna Royal Balletā€™ has been incredibly supportive of my ā€œpink tutu missionā€. Theyā€™ve offered me some delightful opportunities ā€“ appearing as a featured soloist in a few enchanting pieces, a cameo in ā€œSwan Lakeā€, and a fun dance workshop in a local school. Not only did the kids' eyes light up when they saw my tutu, but so did those of the teachers! You see, my little darlings, my mission to spread the joy of pink tutus is a global project, and even Vienna isnā€™t safe from its charm.

Speaking of charm, Vienna has captivated me entirely! I think every building has its own fairytale. We're staying at this lovely hotel - imagine, a traditional Viennese guest house complete with ornate wallpaper and plush velvet furniture, nestled on a quiet street with pretty wrought iron balconies overflowing with flowers. Itā€™s so delightful it practically sings! Yesterday, I took a leisurely stroll past the Vienna State Opera House. My goodness! Its facade is so elegant and stately, it takes my breath away. Can you even imagine a performance in this grandeur? The very air vibrates with anticipation, and even the statues on the front seem to be holding their breath. My friends, it was a sensory overload in the best possible way!

This afternoon, I'm heading to the Schƶnbrunn Palace ā€“ yes, the actual residence of the Habsburg dynasty! Itā€™s considered a masterpiece of Baroque architecture and a must-see for any traveller to Vienna, and I, of course, am going to wear my signature pink tutu! I hear that the gardens are breathtaking. You know me, anything with nature, grandeur, and beauty is calling to me!

But now for the food ā€“ Vienna has been a paradise for my tastebuds! From Sachertorte (the iconic chocolate cake with a layer of apricot jam, truly heavenly!), to a divine schnitzel (my dear, it practically melted in my mouth!), and the freshest coffee Iā€™ve ever had ā€“ Vienna is simply irresistible! I have even learnt to say ā€˜thank youā€™ in German ā€“ ā€œDanke!ā€. Iā€™m told ā€œDanke, meine liebeā€ is more feminine, which suits me just fine! Every corner I turn in this beautiful city presents a new delicacy and a new culinary adventure ā€“ oh, the things you can experience on this delicious journey of life!

Tomorrow, Iā€™m planning a visit to the Kunsthistorisches Museum. Its collection of works of art is one of the largest and most comprehensive in the world, spanning centuries, from Egyptian artifacts to Italian Renaissance paintings. Of course, Iā€™ll be keeping you updated on what treasures I discover! I hear the museum is famous for its stunning art collection from the Italian High Renaissance, and some stunning Spanish masterworks ā€“ I just know there'll be some lovely pink hues that will really appeal to my artistic side!

And speaking of art, we mustnā€™t forget the history of ballet ā€“ a beautiful dance that's just begging for a lovely tutu! Do you know that ballet itself started in the French Royal Courts? Can you imagine dancing among nobility in those grand ballrooms? Such elegance, such poise! This is why I wear my tutu proudly - a homage to all the incredible ballerinas whoā€™ve paved the way. My little pink tutu is a celebration of both the history of ballet and the joyous spirit of freedom and femininity it embodies.

My friends, remember to embrace the whimsical and embrace life with a twinkle in your eye and a twirl in your step. Because life is meant to be danced through with a big smile and an even bigger tutu!

Until next Wednesday,

Yours eternally,

Emma
