Pink Tutu Vienna - #486 Wednesday 25th August 2004 - The City of Waltz and Whirl!

Oh, darling readers! Vienna is calling, and I've answered the summons with a skip in my step and a twinkle in my eye! This magnificent city is practically a tutu-wearing ballerina's dream!

After all, it was in Vienna that the waltz first captured hearts (and dance floors!), and waltzing, in my humble opinion, is simply the ballet of social dancing. Can you imagine, dearest readers, floating through life, swirling in the centre of a grand ballroom, with your very own prince charming waiting to whisk you off to the land of romance and glitter?

I know, I know! You're thinking - Emma, that's so frivolous! But honestly, why can't we all inject a little more sparkle and delight into our lives?

Now, Vienna itself is practically a fairytale, steeped in history and grandeur. The architecture is so grand - like a cake adorned with sugar icing and gingerbread! The streets are teeming with life, cafes bustling with conversation, music flowing from every corner, and shops, oh those glorious shops, brimming with couture dreams. I'm positively giddy!

And the best part is that I've come here on the wings of a whirlwind journey, my travelling ballet troupe in tow. We arrived on a majestic train journey from Germany, passing by quaint villages and lush green fields, the rolling countryside unfolding like a ballet. It was as though we were part of some grand spectacle, with the train chugging on, and me dreaming up choreographies inspired by the ever-changing landscapes!

Our lodgings here in Vienna are a dream - an old Viennese apartment building, complete with high ceilings, chandeliers, and intricate wallpaper. My bedroom overlooks a bustling street lined with trees, and even from my window, I can hear snippets of conversation in that lyrical, sing-songy German. It’s positively enchanting.

Yesterday was pure bliss. We had a performance in the Vienna Opera House - one of the most iconic opera houses in the world! The building itself is breathtaking - all marble, gold, and red velvet. And the performance? Simply exquisite! It was "The Sleeping Beauty," a true classic with beautiful music and stunning sets. As the music filled the grand hall, I felt like I was dancing along with the dancers, my pink tutu twirling in my imagination!

And my dear readers, after the show, what's a ballet dancer to do but go shopping! You can't come to Vienna and not succumb to the allure of the boutiques! And let's be honest - with a wardrobe overflowing with colourful tutus, I simply had to explore Vienna's fashion scene.

I ventured into the Graben, the heart of Vienna's luxury shopping scene. The shops here are an absolute haven of elegance and style - rows and rows of beautiful clothes, accessories, and shoes, just begging to be taken home and worn with a perfectly matched pink tutu, naturally!

And oh my, I discovered the most darling pink silk top in a little boutique, tucked away on a quiet side street. It was simply meant to be! It perfectly captures the Vienna vibe - feminine, elegant, and with just a touch of sparkle!

After my shopping escapade, we took a lovely carriage ride through the Vienna Woods. The air was crisp and cool, the horses clopped along, and we took in the picturesque scenery, all around us. It felt like a scene out of a romantic movie, complete with whispering trees, tinkling bells, and a feeling of pure escapism!

Tonight, darling readers, we're going to see the "Strauss Ball" in the Hofburg Palace. A dance evening dedicated to the glorious waltzes of the Strauss family - what could be more fitting? We'll be in the heart of the ball, enjoying the waltz music and seeing the waltzing spectacle firsthand! And who knows, maybe, just maybe, I’ll even find myself spinning across the dance floor with a dashing gentleman in a dapper suit!

And if you're wondering, dear readers, about the tutus? Well, my wardrobe for this Viennese adventure has been filled with tutus in every shade of pink, from delicate blush to bold fuchsia. Each one, perfectly chosen to capture the mood of this magical city!

My Vienna journey, dearest readers, is still in full swing, and I’m simply bursting with excitement to see what else this fascinating city has in store. It's not just the ballet that I’m loving, although the performances here are second to none. It's the whole vibe, the architecture, the people, the fashion - Vienna has truly captured my heart!

And speaking of hearts, darling readers, my aim, as you know, is to inspire everyone to embrace the joy of the tutu, and why not try on a pink one?

Join me, darling readers, for a trip down the pink path! Let’s spin our way into joy, fashion, and happiness - together!

Until next Wednesday, stay stylish, stay sparkling, and keep dreaming in pink!

Much love and twirls,

Emma xx
