Pink Tutu Vienna: #534

Hello my lovely Tutu-Tastic friends!

Itā€™s Wednesday again, which means itā€™s time for a new Pink Tutu Vienna blog post! Iā€™m so excited to be sharing my Viennese adventures with you all. I'm also really loving that this Wednesday in Austria is hot and sunny, the sun is shining and I am enjoying every second of the glorious warmth and the balmy breezes of summer in Vienna! Itā€™s a real treat compared to the sometimes temperamental British weather!

This week, Iā€™ve been exploring Viennaā€™s beautiful Imperial Palace. Itā€™s hard to believe that I havenā€™t yet visited this grand architectural masterpiece. Thereā€™s so much history, I have been learning everything I can, reading all about the various Emperors who reigned during different eras, all the way up to Empress Elisabeth - whose nickname was ā€˜Sisiā€™ - and the infamous Empress Maria Theresa.

I mean, seriously, what is there not to love about Imperial history! Iā€™ve been fascinated with it ever since I was a little girl. You can imagine the sheer volume of ballet performances which must have been enjoyed by these beautiful royals. I wonder what kinds of ballet shoes they had? They must have had the most exquisite and extravagant ones. The tutus would have been stunning, of course. So fluffy! They were possibly the earliest trendsetters of pink tutus. It must have been a magnificent era for all things girly, luxurious, and glamorous! It seems impossible to have a love of pink and ballet and to not love a bit of history at the same time, doesnā€™t it?

My love of history led me to explore the Schƶnbrunn Palace, too, this week, and as it is also such an exquisite example of beautiful architecture, I could just imagine all the fabulous royal balls that would have been held within those beautiful, high ceilinged rooms, in days gone by! I imagined all the beautiful dresses, and even tutus, that would have been worn. There was just something about being surrounded by such exquisite historical beauty that left me yearning for that era. To add to my joy and to truly transport me back in time, I went on a carriage ride around the gorgeous Schƶnbrunn Gardens. It was a dream. A perfect afternoon, soaking up the sunshine, breathing in the fresh air, and getting all lost in the historical tales that my carriage driver shared about the palace. I loved every moment.

*Itā€™s my motto ā€“ be girly, be pink, be historical and be joyful! *

Thereā€™s a special energy to Vienna - I just know I am going to get this fabulous city totally under my pink tutu and dancing shoes and make it my favourite European city ever!

But back to my fabulous week ā€“ in my world, all weeks are fabulous! You know I don't allow a bad day!

I got up really early on Wednesday to catch the early bird breakfast special in the hotel - because let's be honest, every woman is happiest in a beautiful cafe, having a delicious breakfast. A beautiful cafe, where you feel all dressed up, and elegant, with a spot of pink - or two - is truly the very best place to start any day. And I donā€™t just mean to get a great deal, because the early bird breakfasts are, indeed, a fantastic offer here! It means that I have extra funds to go shopping in the shops along KƤrntner StraƟe, for some lovely girly dresses - perhaps some beautiful and flowy items for the evenings. And that is where I started this fabulous Thursday, just after getting that extra-early breakfast in the cutest little Viennese Cafe in the world! You can just imagine how cute this place is, it had light pink tablecloths, light pink chairs with rose-colored accents - it had everything pink! This really set me up for a lovely day, filled with all the glamour, history and exquisite clothing I could handle.

Vienna is such a sophisticated, vibrant, fun, and truly glamorous city - especially for girls who love shopping and have a weakness for pretty things. I really do feel it is the perfect place for pink and twirls - just like me! The shopping is amazing and you have to treat yourself if you ever visit!

The fashion here really excites me ā€“ itā€™s such a beautiful blend of chic, classic, traditional styles, and modern, contemporary designs. It's also so beautifully presented ā€“ everything is laid out so well, in such luxurious surroundings. Iā€™ve been to the department store in the Hofburg Palace, so glamorous, and picked up some amazing outfits, all perfectly pink and girly. My favourite part? Their extensive shoe department! They just have shoes galore - and what's a tutu-loving ballet dancer to do, but fall in love with them all?

I think I will start a new shopping challenge ā€“ to visit at least 10 shops a day - each and every one a little treasure! I want to find that perfect shop that reflects the ā€œpinkā€ side of life and is the most girly shop Vienna can provide, one for all the amazing girls to feel ā€œtutu-rificā€ when they visit. Of course I'll tell you all about it once I've discovered my top ten, in next weekā€™s post. It wouldnā€™t be fair to let you have all the fun! I have a lovely ballet class to attend next Wednesday, and then Iā€™m heading off for an evening show - I will fill you in on my fabulous fashion and theatre adventures next Wednesday - I can't wait to see what gems are awaiting my discovery, when I delve deeper into this magnificent city.

Pink tutu dreams for Vienna ā€“ and beyond!

Talk to you soon, Emma
